Well I am 17 years old and have taken an interest golf. I go golfing every day since I live on a golf course and have gotten steadily better. I was wondering if it is possible for me to make it onto the PGA tour say by the age of 25 or did i pick up golf to late in life to even think about trying to play pro.

You can do anything you want if you want it bad enough.

There are pros who only started playing late in their teens. All that matters in golf is your score.

To be practical, though, you should be shooting in the mid-70s to low 80s by now to really think about it.

There are significant phases of improvement in golf, and each one is much more difficult than the previous.

It's relatively easy to go from a 27 handicap to an 18. All you need are a few lessons and some practice. Going from an 18 to a 12 is much more difficult.

Getting to a single-digit handicap requires a lot of lessons, a lot of practice, and a lot of dedication.

Getting from a 5 handicap to scratch is next to impossible.

To be pro-calibre, you'll need a handicap of about +3 or +4 -- you'll need to be able to consitently shoot 68 or 69. And you'll need to be able do it on a wide variety of courses that you only play one week each year. And you'll need to do it when millions of people are watching on TV. And you'll need to be able to do it knowing that one missed putt or one bad bunker shot can cost you a few hundred thousand dollars.

This is why so few people have what it takes to make it on the tour, and why the rewards are so high.

The good news is, even if you don't make it to the tour, you will have learned a lot of lessons about life that you can carry with you.
