I test drove the Nissan Versa and I liked it.
I am 6' 4" 220 pounds and it had plenty of room.
I ended up buying the 2007 Sentra because of the better deals right now. I got more of a discount and a better car for only $1000 more than a Versa.
Automatic, 5 airbags, and power windows
Check out the deals. Try to haggle about $2500 of the MSRP price, then get up and leave.
I bet they will call you, and if not go somewhere else and try your luck. Just don't settle.
I think Hondas are more expensive, and you get fewer amenities/options. Same as Toyota.

Although I haven't driven either of these cars - I've read the reviews and currently own a 2004 Nissan (Quest) and a 2005 Honda (Accord). Without getting into details - I didn't drive any Nissans before buying my Accord - and my next car will definitely be a Honda.
They might cost a little more, but Hondas are better cars, plain and simple.

Honda Fits are kinda tiny. Whats wrong with a Civic hybrid? They get excellent gas mileage. Or get a Toyota corolla.

Stick with Honda.
There are various reasons why they have the best resale value, which includes- quality materials, great fuel efficiency, sporty handling, great fit and finish and attractive, stylish designs.
Test drive both and it will reinforce all the above.
