My family will be switching over to them on August 1. Does anyone out there have this insurance and how do they like it?

Im sorry I didnt clarify.
My husband;s new job has UH and we will have a 500 deductible for services like CT scans MRI andsuch then 25 dollar co pays. After 500 deductible it is (them)80/20 (me). What I like about it is unlimited lifetime payout. A young boy here in town hit their 2 millon mark and insurance is not covering.

Your experience with the insurer will largely depend upon the benefit package that the group selected. (I'm assuming that the coverage is through the employer of someone in your family, correct?)

Any given employer can select different levels of co-pays, deductibles, things that are/are not covered, etc. for their own employees. Just because one person might have to pay X number of dollars out of pocket for United Healthcare doesn't mean that its what you're going to have to pay...all depends on what your employer selected.

And, of course, the amount of premium taken out of your paycheck is up to your employer - United tells the employer what the per employee premium will be (say, for the purposes of this example, $600 a month). They don't care whether your employer pays $550 of that and the other $50 is taken out of your check, or whether the employer makes you split the premium 50-50, etc.

You'll have to filter through the answers here to figure out what's most relevant to you. For example, a poster on here might say that their deductible is too high...this would not be relevant to you, as your employer may have set a policy with a different deductible. However, a poster who responds that every time they call United they have a hard time getting through would be relevant to you...that's not something that's dependent upon the specific policy selected by an employer.

Until a few years ago, we were covered by United HealthCare, and found the service excellent for the time period involved.

As another poster indicated, all coverage from UH is not identical. UH will 'tailor' a plan to meet the desires of the company purchasing the plan.

Many people assume that coverages from assorted health insurers are all alike. That is not the case. A health insurance policy is a contract between the employer and the insurer. For a specified monthly premium per plan member, the insurer provides coverage for the employee as dictated by the contract. Coverages, co-pays, and deductibles can vary from contract to contract. Of course, the higher the co-pays, deductibles, etc. the lower the premium to the employer.

You must check your policy carefully to see exactly how the coverage is defined.

I have them. Like any insurer, however, UHC has different plans that offer different coverages. Just because my plan has worked out well for me doesn't necessarily mean yours will for you. As far as claims processing, they've been very fast and efficient in my experience. I have only spoken to customer service once, and got right through and had my question answered to my satisfaction. I'd recommend them.

My family has it. If you have kids or need any work done now, FIND SOMETHING ELSE! It's weekly cost is $30, and the co pay runs out quick, then what comes out of your pocket makes it unaffordable.
I can not stress FIND SOMETHING ELSE! enough.
