Adultery definition according to Jesus can be found in the Book of Matthew, 5:27, You have hear the commandment that says, You must not commit adultery. But I say, anyone who even looks at a women with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
As you can see, adultery does not only happen in a bed, it starts out from the mind.

It does now.
In ancient Jewish law adultery meant:
1. A married female who had sex with a male other than her husband, whether the male was single or married. She has committed adultery.
2. A married man who had sex with a married woman other than his wife, then they have both committed adultery.
BUT, if a married man had sex with a SINGLE woman, then he has NOT committed adultery by ancient Jewish law.
This is just plain sexist to me. But, that's the original meaning of adultery in Jewish law.
Today, in most civilized societies, any married person who has sex with someone else outside of the marriage, whether or not that other person is married or not, has committed adultery.

Acctually it is not only one who cheats on a spouse physically but even thinks about cheating has then committed the sin. Its kinda the idea that you are supposed to be mentally and physically faithful to your spouse.
