I have a mild speech impdement..it's not a severe one or anything sometimes its unnoticable at all....it mostly happens when i'm really nervous, angry, or excited about something. Mainly it is not the impdement itself because most i don't even have one, but more like the fear of having a stammer or a stutter infront of a pretty girl makes me not want to approach girls. So a lot of my friends and other people think I am really quiet or shy and it is not because i have nothing to say I have plent of ideas floating around in my head, but i am afraid of being made fun of or something or people judging me before they know me..so what are some things I could do to become more approachable and to approach girls?

Get help for your stuttering so you have more confidence and feel like talking more. Several of my uncles and cousins got help through The Stuttering Foundation. One went to a speech therapist who specializes in treating stuttering. All of them used The Foundation's book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" that you can get on the web site at www.stutteringhelp.org or in some public libraries.

Being nervous around girls can sometimes look cute, if it is hard for you I would go take a few speech classes or drama classes where you have to be in front of people and you can always do this away from your town so you won't feel embarrassed, after that it does get a little easier

I have the exact thing! When im nervous scared anxious and angry my speech stutters and such.

I havn't always had this. But if you are going to aproach one just do something or thinking of something calming and charming. You won't stutter if you do it didn't work so do practices.

This is what I do and it works almost all the time for me.

Goodluck freind and I know how it is!

I feel for you !

You only want to be around people that will celebrate you and love your company. Let them know if you stutter or whatever. You will be able to see what kind of heart they have. If they don't have love for you as you are, stay away from THEM. You are someone special in some way, I am sure. Be yourself. It is not you with the problem, if they don't like you then they have a problem.

The best way is to face your fear!! That is just talking. You may find that your speech impdement isn't that big of a deal. Put your ideas out to your friend, so they will know who, and what your about. You will be fine.
