I noticed somewhere it said they used Elmers white glue on someones liberty spikes. Is this true, or does it mess up your hair?

Also note, almost NO gel works, not Got2B, not anything. The only one that works is a gel from Mexico that I can't make trips for.

When I was in high school my friends and I used Elmers glue to make spikes stay and it works! It can be a pain to get out but that is what most people use... Hope this helps and good luck!

It is true, and it works mad good. I've tried it on my hair just for fun and it's a good foot and a half high set of spikes. It doesn't mess up your hair really, but you just need to shampoo extra good to get it all out.

Styling products like plain hairspray, waxes, pomades, gels, hair glues are just not strong enough to hold up your hawk/spikes past a certain length ( like three inches, blaaaah)

You'd use glue, and then hairspray.. and you have to use the washable kind, and if for some reason it flakes (i didn't have this problem) use the washable blue gel kind instead.

And I've heard of people using egg whites (Ew?) and Knox gelatin (the unflavored kind) with success.

Yes, my best friend uses glue on her liberty spikes / mohawk.
It works better than gel for the most part. And people think it's hard to get out but it isn't. All you have to do is get your hair really wet in the shower, or soak it in the tub for about three minutes. If you're gentle with it, it doesn't harm your hair.

Elmers glue is non-toxic but i suggest mixing the glue with the gel for a better effect.

I know people who've done it.
But not on a reguraly basis maybe for a few days no more then a week.
Probably would be a pain taking the glue off.

Some do, that tangels and damages your hair. For mohawks they should use got2b hard.
