Christ paid taxes. Why is religion exempt? I know he got the money from the belly of a fish, but nevertheless he paid them.

Hardly - Christ did not teach a religion. In fact, his main agitators were the "religionists" of his day. He paid tax because it was due on earth's system. He taught a "kingdom message" that by and large the earthlings (and religionists) did not even comprehend and do not to this day.

Christianity is the religion of Christ just as Islam is the religion for Muslims, and Judaism is the religion for Jews. Christ paid taxes in his era but today we have laws that govern the separation of church and state.

Christ got money from the belly of a fish????No he didn't. I am a Christian but not of an organization like a religion.There are differences.
Religions do not pay taxes because they receive nothing from the Government in funds etc. Separation of Church and State.

Jesus (pbuh) is a part of Religion as a Mighty Holy Prophet of The God Almighty.
God Almighty sent him to teach and preach religion as God Almighty sent other almost 124,000 Prophets and Messengers to Humanity, in different time, in different places, on different nations.
He was a chosen one and God takes care of chosen one in special way we may not understand.

no.relationship with christ is really not a religion it's more personel.thats what makes TRUE CHRISTIANITY different from all other religions.all other religions reach out to god trying to be good enough,give enough,earn enough brownie points to make it to heaven.christianity is just the opposite of this.god reach down from heaven to save men.in the form of jesus christ.god says none of us are good enough.to get to heaven

Jesus did not say the church should not pay taxes.
The US Constitution and US Tax laws decided that.
