Why in Genesis 1:20-31 god created all animals before man, then in Genesis 2 :18-19, god created all animals after man?
So dinosaurs then man, or man then dinosaurs?

The Catholic Church does not take the stories of creation in the Bible literally. Catholics believe the book of Genesis tells religious truth and not necessarily historical fact.
One of the religious truths is that God created everything and declared all was good.
Catholics can believe in the theory of evolution. Or not. The Church does not require belief in evolution.
On August 12, 1950 Pope Pius XII said in his encyclical Humani generis:
The Teaching Authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions, on the part of men experienced in both fields, take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter - for the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God.
Here is the complete encyclical: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xii/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xii_enc_12081950_humani-generis_en.html
The Church supports science in the discovery of God's creation. At this time, the theory of evolution is the most logical scientific explanation. However tomorrow someone may come up with a better idea.
As long as we believe that God started the whole thing, both the Bible and modern science can live in harmony.
With love in Christ.

Genesis 1
- Day one - heavens and earth are created. "Let there be light." Day and Night.
- Day two - Atmospheric waters separated from earth waters.
- Day three - Land appears separating the seas. Vegetation is made.
- Day four - Sun, moon, stars are made.
- Day five - Sea life and birds are made.
- Day six - Land animals, creeping things, and man (male and female) are made.
Genesis 2
States heaven and earth were created. no plant yet on earth, no rain yet, no man. but, a mist rose watering the surface of the ground. Then the Lord formed man from dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then God made Eve.
There is no contradiction between Genesis 1 and 2. Genesis 1 is a detailed explanation of the six days of creation, day by day. Genesis two is a recap and a more detailed explanation of the sixth day, the day that Adam and Eve were made. The recap is stated in Gen. 2:4, "This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven." Then, Moses goes on to detail the creation of Adam and Eve as is seen in verses 7 thru 24 of Gen. 2. Proof that it is not a creative account is found in the fact that animals aren't even mentioned until after the creation of Adam. Why? Probably because their purpose was designated by Adam. They didn't need to be mentioned until after Adam was created.

In Genesis 2: 18 and 19 says HE HAD formed the animals and he brought them to Adam to name. It doesn't say God created all animals after man. It isn't a contradiction.

First off, verse 18 talks about a "helpmate", that being Eve not the animals. The Bible doesn't say God made animals after man, verse 19 just says that God let Adam name all the animals that He had created. As for dinosaurs, they are mentioned in the Bible in the book of Job. And, since they were animals, they were also made before Adam. Hope this helps, thanks for the interesting question and have a great day!

There are no editions of the Bible that are flawless. Look into the history. Books were thrown out. Pieces of it were put together from different parts of the book like a puzzle. Books were hidden when christians were persecuted and killed. (Read the Gnostic Codices). Before the Bible was let loose to the people, many people edited it for content. Also it was written two centuries after Christ was crucified.

This is called interpolation in theology. The creation story starts in Genesis 1 and then the writer digresses as a person would move to another window in the house to see other things only to pick back up on the original story in a later story. Remember the bible writers added in the chapters and verses and various sub-sections. the continuity may be broken up in certain places but this in itself does not take away from the inspired writings. I hope this helps answer your question.

Does'nt it make sense that God create the things that would help to support the life`force that he put in the first man Adam !?! & .. For instance: GEN. 1~26 And God went on to say: Let us make man in our image"<--- It was the one we know of as Jesus Christ that he was talking to !!He was with God before creation !! & It was him that was to be the perffect example !! & gift !! & God's gift to the world !! It was Jesus that helped God greate the HEAVENS & THE EARTH !!!.. PERSONALLY my first understanding or question of this when I was a KID was Who helped God to make all the things he did before creating the life`force that he put in the first Man Adam!!That let me know that the Christ was in heaven with God first !! & No God created!! See God made the HEAVENS<---------(&)-(Earth) The earth was void of everything !! & after he saw that everything was good Then he placed life such as the flying creatures!!. See he & the one we call Christ was God's FIRST creation !! Adam was his first EARTHLY creation !! get it ? He did'nt even create ADAM til around the <26th.> verse !! all the things created before the first man Adam was in preperation for LIFE !!! Even the REST of the animals was made after adam came to be !! So it was also Adam that gave the first class of animals there name !!. I still wonder what made him affix his mouth to say or call the Lion ``a`` LION !?! lol But happy he did !!-<7/5/07> "R"r`r,r;a;wWw,'`R"r,r`.r'r.->

God created all animals first then man then brought animals to man so he could name them and then rule over them. and all dinosaurs were is just regular reptiles....because everything lived so much longer before theflood of noah, due to the protective firmament of water that covered over the world, the reptiles lived several hundred years just like thepeople....the longer reptiles live the bigger they get. after the flood that protective covering fell as part of the flood so people stopped living as long and so did reptiles, therefore they don't grow as big and dangerous anymore. that covering kept harmful uv rays out and other harmful things that cause us to age quicker and get other types of problems like skin cancer. so people were healthier than we are now.
