I,too live with an alcoholic (he is in the living room getting buzzed as we speak) and i do sympathize with you. I am not an alcoholic but I do have an occasional drink but that is hard to enjoy when you live with analcoholic. You can go to alanon meetings. they are meetings to help you cope with this and meet other people wh are in the same boat.Good Luck!!

every city in america has alanon meetings. look it up on the web or in the phone book. there is probably a meeting going on right this minute somewhere in your city...there are numerous, hidden places where they meet, some in churches, some in business offices, and other discreet locations. this is the very best place you can go for help. you'll learn the 12 steps to getting yourself healthy. this is not about him anymore. it's now about you. you have to learn to take care of yourself. if your partner is an alcoholic, you have (like all the rest of us) tried to squeeze yourself into a million shapes to make the relationship work, you've done controlling behaviors such as beg, cry, hide bottles, avoid people, etc. you've probably taken up for him/her on many occasions to hide your embarrassment. you may have even enabled him/her to continue drinking by giving in too much regarding your own happiness. please locate an alanon meeting now. your health and well being are on the line. this will be the best thing you could do for you...he/she doesn't even have to know that you are attending meetings if you aren't comfortable sharing that information. do what is best for you TODAY. best wishes.

AA. Also seek a counselor's help. Relationship counselor. He/She can talk to you and this person and find out what is causing their alcoholism. If it gets too bad, leave. It is in NO ONE'S best interest to be in a relationship with someone who is dependent on drugs or alcohol.

Al-Anon is a good group for you. Also, read up on Co-dependency. I just read a really good book on it and you may be a co-dependent person. I also ordered three more of these types of books on amazon.com to help me. Co-dependency is about taking on people to solve their problems and then you don't end up taking care of yourself. Really, read up on it. It may or may not hit home. Good luck.
