a raised, itchy rash all over my chest. It didn't appear until several hours afterward. This is the second time this has happened. What could it be, and what do you think caused it?

I use the level 4 high pressure bed. This has never happened before.........The area is not burnt....it is quite tan. I know the risks of tanning and I'm going to go anyway....but thanks for your concern!

Whether it was the sun or a tanning bed, believe it or not you can become allergic to the tanning rays (from either).
If you are in the sun for too long, your skin will react to the overdose of the UV radiation and break out in what looks like hives.
Use a good sunscreen, keep the time of exposure less, and when you come in take a cool shower and apply aloe vera gel.

My wife had this when we started tanning at a new place. We aren't totally sure what cause it but she believes it is a reaction to whatever they are using to clean the bed with. We bought some gentle moist wipes and she uses them to wipe the bed down with before tanning and she hasn't had it since.

I'm not sure what it could be, but please quit tanning. Tanning is bad for you and your skin. It may look good now, but what about when you get older? Instead try using a self tanner. I use Banana Boat and it is great. Saves me time and money not to mention wrinkles!

You are sensitive to something. Tanning increases your risk for skin cancer and premature wrinkling so it is not a good idea to keep doing it. See your doc though to get this rash checked out as it could be something that needs treatment.

Too much sun caused the rash on your chest.

tanning beds hit you with concentrated beta radiation, your skin is blistering there because it is damaged. Tanning beds are excellent sources for SKIN CANCER. I suggest you use a self tanning cream or lotion and stay away from the tanning beds and definitely protect yourself from the sun.

OMG....BE CAREFUL w/indoor tanning salons--beds, in particular...Reason being, my sister's boyfriend caught SCABIES--from the bed not being disinfected properly! I felt so bad for him! Make sure that if it doesn't clear up, to go to your doctor A.S.A.P!!!

somethink in the tanning agent they use, your skin is sensitive to somethink in it or it's a alergic reaction.
did you use the same place twice to get it done? it could be to do with them, try a diffrent place!
