To punch a Jehovah's Witness for coming to my door time and time again, even after I've told him that I won't convert? Because I'm seriously considering it..

For the record, I have a rottweiler(sp?), but I keep her inside most of the time.. (Darn, I wish I lived in Texas..)

Please do not attack a peaceful Christian minister (such as a Jehovah's Witness). In most jurisdictions, the act suggested by this questioner is criminal assault.

Jehovah's Witnesses are extremely interested in their legal rights and in their preaching work. Jehovah's Witnesses have won dozens of U.S. Supreme Court cases (and elsewhere) and thus established dozens of precedents regarding their "free speech" and the "free expression of religion" in the United States, Canada, and the European Union.

A Jehovah's Witness minister who is assaulted as the questioner describes would almost certainly pursue the matter doggedly with police and prosecutors. Most prosecutors are quite energetic about prosecuting "hate crimes" of violent bigotry.

In addition, recent decades have seen Jehovah's Witnesses successfully litigate against their attackers, winning both compensatory and punitive damages.

Yes -- unfortunately. We had good results by posting a sign reading thus: "If you are selling something, and are over the age of 16, or want to talk about religion, regardless of age, GO AWAY." Nowadays, I waste their time by pointing out errors in the bible -- but I can afford the time, as I am retired.

I think it's illegal to punch anyone, But you can put a no trespass sight up or just not answer the door.

Wouldn't suggest punching someone; however, I understand the feeling.

Here is a suggestion.....when they come to my door, I listen to them and then when they want to give me their material. I tell them that I would only take their material if they would take mine. Then I offer them a large amount of protestant material. They refuse to accept it, of course. Then I inform them that maybe next time I will get to talk to them about Jesus and how to accept Him, blah blah blah.......

That usually freaks them out good enough because no one has ever come back.

Try it or something like it. MIght work.

Of course, punching them would as well, BUT..................

Don't punch him. Put up a no trespassing/no soliciting sign. Then inform them that if they persist in their harassment of you, you will be pressing charges for trespassing. Or, if you live in Texas, you can shoot them.

Just ask them to put you on their do not call list. Their time is too precious to waste it on people who are obviously not interested in upbuilding Bible discussions. However, if you hide and do not make this request, you will continue to get knocks on your door.

I understand the urge to poke them in the snout, but don't do it.

Either call the cops and file a trespassing complaint, or just don't open the door.

don't punch him because he could sue but put up something saying no visitors or no trespassing so if he does still come you can call the police and they'll arrest him or fine him

lol, yeah. you can be charged with assault, but because you told him never to come back to your property and he has ...he could face trespassing i believe. but no, don't punch him, maybe you should call the cops and file a report for continuous harassment instead.
