One of the fundamental teachings of Jesus Christ was 'to love one another as I have loved you'. Unless I'm greatly mistaken it wasn't 'love one another as I have loved you except for homosexuals!'. As Christians we believe in Jesus as the messiah, it is what seperates us from the other monotheistic religions. The man Jesus was renound for his love and compassion towards those members of society who were outcasts ie. samaritans, lepors and women. I do not understand why it is that the church ignores this aspect of our faith while embracing a single passage from the hebrew scriptures which is the basis for their stance. Do you think the church needs to move forward with the times and allow society to embrace what is surely a more important teaching?

Yes, we need to love one another. You need to understand something, God's word is the same for everyone. Homosexuals need Jesus for their salvation like anyone else.

Homosexuality is an abolishment to God. Because we are christians (or disciples) we have the mind of Christ. The closer we are to Him, the more we become like Him. Scripture tells us that we are to hate the things He hates & love the things He loves. Also have you forgotten that we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds? And we are in the world, but we are not of this world. So, no, the church doesnt need to "move forward with the times" but the church needs to bring correction and TRUTH back to the body!

Why? Because Scripture is pretty clear on this issue.
Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."
Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"
1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

I can disagree with homosexuality and still love that person as a human being. What you're saying is heresy. Jesus also was honest with a person regarding their sin. For example the woman at the well. Please do not sugar coat Christ as someone who turns a blind eye to people's sins.

i grew up Catholic and i can tell you this much from my experience with them- anything viewed abstract or socially unacceptable is because of them. Abortion is viewed as "killing" well the last i checked the removal of cells is not murder. living an alternative lifestyle (i.e. BDSM or D/s specifically) is not accepted because people cant accept eachothers kinks. when it comes to homosexuals they have a special place because apparently it is not ok to love someone of the same sex. but Ceasar did it, Alexander the Great did it. any great noble of the Roman times was probably gay/bi. and fairly open about it. and they were Catholic :) so basicly they dont like homosexuals because many great leaders were homosexuals and it just 'looks bad' i guess. i dont know if i really answered anything but that is just my take on things.

We do not ignore anything, we love everyone, but it's somes people's FREE WILL that condems them..Not Christians!!!
One cannot change the BIBLE to suit wrongdoers so they can feel accepted, they must change to suit the BIBLE!

What do you mean by The church? The view varies widely from church to church and denomination to denomination. I would not be a member of any church that did not welcome my gay friends and relatives.
