"There is NOTHING from without a man, that entering into him can defile him" - Mark 7.
I Corinthians 7:7-9
7-For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
8-I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
9-But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn."
Verse 7 is talking about the Gift of God of being Straight, Gay or Bi.
1 Samuel 18:1,3
"And it came to pass, when he [David] had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul . . . And Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul."
That sounds like a MARRIAGE to me
1 Samuel 20:41
" . . . they [David and Jonathan] kissed one another, and wept one with another..."
Doesn't sound like something a heterosexual would do.
Hold on while I write more...

Leviticus 18:22 says:
“ And with a man you shall not lie with as a man lies with a woman; it is an abomination. ”
The TRUE Hebrew version basically says that a straight man should not lay with a gay man OUT OF LUST!

As for, Leviticus 18:22 states: "Thou shall not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination."
The term abomination (to'ebah) is a religious term, usually reserved for use against idolatry; it does not mean a moral evil. The verse seems to refer to temple prostitution,
Leviticus 20:13 states: "If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination..."
THE REAL HEBREW TRANSLATION WOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:
"...If a man who is straight finds another man who is willing, and out of lust has sex with him, as he would with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination..."

Funny how the Xtians who love to point out Leviticus completely gloss over the story of Jonathan and David.
There is one verse that is usually translated as "... they kissed each other and wept together, but David wept the more." One scholar I knew told me that the translation for that passage might be more accurate to read, "... but David grew bigger."
I'll let you all figure out what that might mean.

I really don't think that David and Jonathan had a homosexual relationship. But you know this question is really a complex one. My view is that gratification without the ability to produce life may not be in accordance with spiritual progression but then at this time in society, neither is most heterosexual experience. I really leave any conclusions in this regard open to learning from the "higher intelligence" and so far I have not had information come to me other than it is not my place to judge it and definitely is not my place to hate or draw my own conclusions about it.

okay, paul is saying that he wishes men were like himself (unmarried!!) Paul wasn't married and knew that being married sometimes leads to beind distracted from God. Then it says that every man has his own gift from God in one way or another. Then he says that it is good for the unmarried and widowed to remain unmarried just like him, but if they can't be unmarried and remain Godly, then they should get married. How is that gay?
And David and Jonathan's soul's being knit together is talking about their friendship. In the NIV version it says that he loved him as himself. They were best friends and made a friendship pact because they were friends!
They didn't snog or anything, it's like when a kid kisses their father or mother, it's not romantic or sexual. Back in that time it was perfectly normal to kiss your best friend, probably on the cheeck or forehead. It's just a sign of friendship. Get over it.

and in those times, men had purses too. and guess what? they didn't wear earrings! our view of what is gay and what isn't has changed quite a bit in the last 2000 years, huh?
1) David contrasted brotherly love of Jonathan with the sexual affection of women. David had always been the small-fry, had been put down by his brothers, and his potential was rarely recognized. so now he gets a friend who he can trust. who's he gunna feel closest to? I don't know why people don't get this
2) how do you get the concepts of sexuality out of verse 7? is this not the same Paul who wrote 1 Corinthians 6:9? Paul probably was either divorced or a widower, as religious leaders were often married. and he mentions a thorn in his side. pain. he is speaking of being committed to the Kingdom. how hard is that to get? gifts speaks of their blessings (married or unmarried). geez.
3) I suppose Romans 1:18-32 means nothing either? how about Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:5)?

Do you hear the protest? Taking scripture out of context? Using scripture to fit your agenda? Wow! What a novel idea.
Also, if anybody wants to argue that Sodom and Gomorrah was about gay sex, they are as much as saying that God would have been OK if they had only stuck to gang-raping women.
Check out the next to last answer on this question. Apparently, TRUE Christian families don’t have gay relatives. Not sure what they do with them but it probably isn’t very nice.

Never seen such a twisted interpretation in my life. The writers of the bible would never pervert their words with hidden messages, for example, your sorry excuse for evidence in Corinthians 7:7.
Jonathan and David were not as insecure as you.
Somewhere in Leviticus.
"Sodomy is an abomination."
oh this will get em. I'll put the funny pig law out there. It was considered unclean and probably, in the desert was. Putting your penis up the same hole that fecal matter comes out is pretty unclean too. Sorry to be blunt but that's what sodomy is. You can see where the writers are coming from.
Bible is capitalized by the way, just like any book. homosexuality is an improper noun and is lower-case.
This is such a waste of time. According to the Bible, God loves us, and thus would want us to reproduce to bring more happiness and love. In the Christian context of marriage, reproduction can only occur within a marriage of a man and a woman.
Why are you wasting my time? Do you need to prove something to the 50 something people that will glance at this "question."

Great post with some great answers already.
The fact is, that religious people pick and choose which texts to base their beliefs on. Strange they pick the ones that condone hatred while not acknowledging the ones dealing with love for anyone but themselves. It is a book filled with contradictions and confusion. I don't mean to offend original poster in any way regarding religion. It's mostly the bible that I have a problem "getting".

I do not take this as proof. These are all things that are refrence to brotherhood and not true love. If these are for gays (which I don't want to bust out of the conversation) then there are many places in the bible that insult them. Many christians dispise the gay community and don't practice what they preach. Good Job though on trying to clear up your religions name.

There is such a thing as context, and you are not taking these verses as they were intended. Sorry, nice try. The Bible clearly says that man shall not lie with man as with a woman. The Bible also says to do so is an abomination.

Look up salt covenant in the Bible.
Stop abusing the words to your usage when it does not prescribe for that order.
Does it say that David "laid with" Jonathan? Nope.
Romans 1:18-32 speaks of physical and sexual action with the same sex.
God condemns it. Pure and simple. Get used to it.
