No. There was always something. The nature of that something is up for grabs (though it is a natural something, not a deity). I personally think the evidence I've seen so far best supports the Inflaton theory, but we still have to formulate quantum gravity before we can really start going into that question with any depth.

Oh man! Not the "something from nothing" idea again!

Christians: Did you know that no scientist, no theory of science, and no intelligent person EVER said that the Big Bang was an explosion of *noting!*

There was *stuff* It expanded (like the galaxies are still doing today). Get yourself to the library and learn a little about science please. You are embarrassing yourself, really, trust me.

which "nothing" are you speaking of? if you mean the temendously dense singularity of all matter (hardly nothing) reaching critical mass, then exploding outward, sending particles in every direction, then the particles reacting toward each other as particles do (you know... attracting and repelling) and gathering into what we now see as galaxies, then yes i guess i believe that.

Do you believe that some "one" magically appeared and made the world as we know it? Do you really think I know what the **** happened way back when? DO YOU THINK I KNOW EVERYTHING? Christians think they know everything. Actually, all people who have religions think they know what happened. And stop calling me an Atheist. I take no part in this religion crap.

Makes more sense than the foolishness being presented by the 'Creation Scientists.'

Don't you have anything better to do with your time than try to 'prove' the existence of God? Better minds than ours have tried - and failed - to prove any existence of God.

This is not to say that God doesn't exist. But to claim any sort of 'proof' or that you know God's mind or will is absolute lunacy.

If you atheists *do* believe in *that*, your faith in magic and mythology is certainly stronger than my faith in God, the Creator, and in Jesus Christ, who died a sinless death for your sins and mine! I have *seen* the transformation of lives redeemed by God's saving grace and Jesus' death on the Cross, including my own, because I was *there* when it took place! I doubt you atheists were there when the "miracle" of something forming out of nothing took place!
