No. That is called fanaticism. Would you feel an appreciation for your children who endured pain and suffering in your name? That idea is ridiculous.

It really depends exactly what you are asking. If you are asking is it good to inflict pain and suffering in the name of Christ then the answer is no.

If you are asking is it good to suffer for the name of Christ then the answer is yes. Romans 5:3 says that suffering causes perseverance. Romans 8:17 says that if we suffer for Christ then we will also receive glory. Philipians 1:29 says that we have a responsibility to suffer for the name of Christ. We as Americans very rarely suffer for the cause of Christ and I think we are immature because of not having been tested enough. Just my opinion

Yes and no.

Yes - because when we suffer in the name of Christ, it is another way to show our love for him even when others don't. I am Catholic, so when I go through and sort of physical or mental pain/aggrevation I use that time to reflect on Christ and the purpose of my pain. I also suffer through the pain for the Souls in Purgatory. If you have a spiritual director...he/she would also be glad to answer this for you.

No - if we endure the pain and suffering for vain glorious reasons. In other words, doing this to gain something out of the situation.

if Hitler had named the Holocaust in Christs name would that make it ok? think about it on those levels because thats what people name Christs suffering at. "i tortured alllll those people in Christs name." so what that makes it ok? no one has the right to name anything in Christs name but Christ himself and he's dead so he cant do it anymore. no one has the right to name anything in anyones name but the person themselves. pain and suffering are not good things and dont renew anything with anyone.

God did not promise an easy way.

God calls us to cross when Jordan is highest and the challenge is greatest.

It is impossible to overcome pain and suffering with human power alone.

When God calls us to obey, He usually waits until our situation looks impossible: a lost job a terminal illness, a child on drugs. Just about anyone can step out in obedience when faith is not required and all the signs in the natural point to success. But you can hardly consider it obedience if it does not cost you something.

Matthew 5:11

"Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. "

Philippians 1:29

" because to you it hath been granted in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf: "

1 Peter 2:19

For this is acceptable, if for conscience toward God a man endureth griefs, suffering wrongfully.

1 Peter 4:16

"If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you. "

yes, it says so in the bible: Matthew 5:11-12

"Blessed are you when people insult you , persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me" "Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you"
