Oh very much so!
They all have a different balance to the totality of health.
I saw a video of a man who was 101 in China. He sprinted around Beijing Square, and he was about to attend his daily Tai Chi class. I was shocked at how great he was.
Exercise is good for almost everyone. Martial Arts combine exercise, self-defense, and in some cases discipline that is usually for the better of ones health. I don't know of any style that is bad for health, but each style has a different blend to the seven elements of fitness. You might attain great strength in one style, but another style might give you intense speed, et cetera...
They all have pros and cons, however.

In general, those with an exercise regiment live longer than those without. Martial arts are something, with some adjustments as you age, you can practice the rest of your life. Karate men of the late 19th century had a lifespan average around 70 years, while the average peasant lived in their 30s, and even the Kings of Okinawa and Emperors of Japan only lived on average into their 40s! I believe it's because of the exercise regiment that karate training is. They believed it kept up Chi (Chikara, Ki, Qi) flow. Activity=health.

My answer is yes. My girlfriend is s 2nd degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do. Taking classes get's you stretching, exercising, feeling confident and also doubles as self-defense just in case. However you should make sure that if you do join, have a CERTIFIED instructor as martial arts must be taught a certain way for different arts in order to avoid injury and create maximum yield with physical and mental achievement.

My son is a 4th degree black belt INSTRUCTOR in Tae Kwon Do----he is extremely physically fit and very disciplined in almost EVERYTHING he does in life---I attribute this to the hours and YEARS he has been studying martial arts----
