frozen cut up peaches while the oatmeal is cooking
apple slices
brown sugar
nutmeg
pumpkin spice
honey
apple pie spice
fresh blueberries
bananas
maple syrup
currants
raisins
dry cranberries
cinnamon
jams with or w/o fruit pieces in it
frozen mango
I cook the oatmeal in the micro with salt and milk. I always use milk. If I have something to frozen to add, I cut it up if I need to (like the peaches) and add that in before I microwave. I add the rest of the toppings after the oatmeal is done. Fresh ingredients like bananas and apple get mushy if you microwave them.
Quaker oatmeal has a website of suggested toppings: http://www.quakeroatmeal.com/qo_quakerKitchen/toppers/index.cfm

Oatmeal's never my fave food. When I get bored of it sweet with sugar and milk, I make it savoury instead, something like oriental-style congee. I'll just break an egg into it, add a little salt to taste and cook it in the microwave. When done, I sprinkle a little sesame oil, pepper and chopped spring onions. Sometimes, I add cooked chicken meat for a change

I like cinnamon and brown sugar. Maple syrup is good as is honey. You can add any kind of dried fruit to the water you cook the oatmeal in, it'll slightly rehydrate: raisins, dried apricots, any dried berry. I like the combination of dried cranberries and orange zest in pretty much any kind of muffin, that would be good in oatmeal.

We use Cinnamon and sweet and low, with a little bit of banana (maybe 1/4 ) and some pecans! MMM good! You can also add brown sugar, or honey if you don't want sweetner.

butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, chopped (candied) walnuts, dried apples or apricots (or other fruit), craisins, a little sugar-free jam or jelly (since you're worried about the sugar content)
instead of white sugar, use sugar in the raw, it has a different flavor and you may not need as much
also, my favorite, Fat-Free Coffee-Mate in French Vanilla (the sugar-free tastes funny). You don't need a lot to make it nice and creamy; or your favorite yogurt

Depends on your taste. I love to make my instant oatmeal with coffee instead of water. Hot from the pot, then nuked for 30-45 sec.
Nuts are good too.

i add tons of things - walnuts, mushed up banana that is brown, dried cranberries (very yummy), raisins, peaches and strawberries are great too. once they get warm in the micro and the warmth of the oatmeal they get all goopy and juicy. yum!
