there is no such thing as big boned...your body is just distributing fat all over your body (some people just have a few areas fat reserves are most likely being kept like on belly and back)
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Going with Chad's answer calorie counting can help a lot. Keeping a food journal is very helpful because you can see how much you consume, which is often more than you think it is, and how many calories are in certain items so you can learn to make better choices. A good site I have found, which was suggested to me through Y!A is www.sparkpeople.com. It has a food tracker and a fitness tracker so you can see exactly how many calories you are putting in and how many you are burning off. They also have a lot of other tools you might find helpful. Good luck with everything!

Losing weight is simple math. If you consume more calories than you burn, then you gain weight. If you burn more calories than you consume, then you lose weight. So, if you want to lose weight then either decrease the amount of calories you consume or increase your activity level. Become aware of how much sedentary (sitting/laying) activity you do and how many calories are in the things you consume.

Diets and pills are all BS. Like I said, it's simple math. When it comes to weight, calories count!
