"shots" given for arthritis, depending on what kind of arthritis it is, are generally steroids. They are given in the general location of the main area of pain, to reduce inflammation and swelling and generally are limited to one or two shots in a given year. Yes, they hurt. But the temporary hurt is usually worth putting up with for the pain relief it brings.

An injection for arthritis is a minor little stick that's over and done with in seconds. Arthritis pain goes on and on and on and on......

You didn't state which shots they are. If they are cortisone injections then yes I have heard they hurt, but if they are injections into the belly then no as its only a little sting and its over. Cheers and good luck.
