It makes it easier to fit in when they live outside of China. These people have a history of hard work and will do what it takes to get the job done. If changing their name helps to accomplish that, then they will. It also makes it easier for us which is a very considerate touch on their part.

Seems kind of obvious doesn't it? Easier to pronounce Jimmy. They do it cuz theyre sick of us pronouncing their names wrong. Perhaps they just want to blend in with the culture a little bit.

They want to fit in. It's out of respect that if they have a name that's not easily pronouncable they want to make something that can be said more fludily.

Because they can't stand the way we mangle their names, and since we are such hopeless linguists, they are being kind by giving themselves a name that we can cope with.
