It cost more money to make oil from trash than it does pumping it from the ground. The day will come, maybe in our lifetimes.

You are slightly off the mark. Only carbon based trash such as plastic, paper, wood, food scraps, etc can be made into oil.

Infrastructure is the largest problem. This is private technology that relies on small amounts of investment money from people interested in alternative fuels. You will never convince republicans of a need for a need to push this technology. They think everything must magically appear by the free market process.

Yes, that's true. But, it takes tons of pressure and hundreds of thousands of years. Nothing is stopping the development ... it's happening. But, it's going to take a very, very long time!
