For the last week, I have been experiencing severe throat and ear pain as well as congestion and a runny nose. The other two symptoms have eased up but the throat and ear pain have not. What do you suggest?

See a doctor. It could all be related to your sinuses, possibly a sinus infection that has also gone into your ears. If you still have your tonsils, it could have infected that as well.

A friend of mine was unable to get in to see an ENT during a painful ear infection and now he has hearing loss due to a perforated eardrum.
If decongestants don't help, get to a doctor or ER ASAP.

Get rid of throat pain with a ricola or halls.

Go to the doctor for an antibiotic... also, to make sure you don't have strep.
