He wants us to fulfill our own wants for spiritual advancements.
Most individuals who have a life-death experience knows beyond any doubt, that we are here to advance our species in a spiritual way. Some of us struggle so much that we ignore this basic building block and have to experience a "wake up call." Usually, we have to endure an accident that cripples us, or something similar, to snap us into knowing our intention for being here.
It's our intention, not a God intention. He gives us free rein to find and work through our spiritual achievements. But here's the clincher...we have a nice power source called the life-force or universal energy field, and with it, we can create all the wonderful things we desire for our lives. Being the little Creators that God wants us to be, he wants us to work with his power to enhance our free will, which in turn makes him pleased with us.

The purpose of earth life is for us to develop a better understanding of the principles of happiness.
For example, I tell my children not to lie and why this is important. Hopefully they'll obey, but they'll probably gain some insight as they experience what happens when a relationship is damaged due to dishonesty.
Our Heavenly Father wants all of His children to develop an understanding of the principles of happiness as He understands them. That's why He designed this earth to have competing voices for truth and so people would make both good and bad choices.
This isn't just speculation on my part. Once again there are living prophets of God on the earth helping us to understand truth. I know this to be true. The best way for you to come to this knowledge is to continue to seek for truth, bring your life into compliance with what you know is right, and use both your mind and heart to avoid deception. If you do this, you'll be led step by step to greater and greater light.

God wants to have honest, loving fellowship with his creation. That's why he asks for our prayer and worship.
God regularly communicates with us. Not always in words. His Holy Spirit indwells believers and they often sense his presence and his thoughts when they pray or when the read the Bible. It's not a mystical experience and what is communicated isn't ever contrary to what he's already revealed in the Bible, nor is what he says to us even worth writing down as it wouldn't necessarily be useful to anyone else.
God also communicates by answering our prayers. Sometimes in the way we want and sometimes not, but always what he wants.

God wants me to love Him and have a personal relationship with Him. This means that I am to seek His wisdom and guidance, I must follow His commands, and I must be honest and forthright with Him as I should be with any friend.
God want us to seek Him so that we are exercising our free will to accept Him.

My view is that he wants us to have open minds and hearts to learn and not feel our minds are supreme. Worship him? I'm not sure our human concept of that is even close to correct. Even according to the Bible. Perhaps worship to him is the humbleness to realize our minds are not gods and there is an intelligence out there from which we can learn and evolve.

honestly, I think, if God made me, he wants me to make up my own mind about what's going on in the world.
he doesn't want me to believe in him (named 'Jesus') just because I happened to grow up in Louisianna ... or in him (named 'Allah') just because I ahppened to grow up in Baghdad .. or in him (named "Zeus") just because I happened to grow up in Italy 2000 years ago.
he has given me a good brain to think with. he's given me the benefit of history - many others before me who've thought about things far deeper that I even could, and writen them down so I can read what they said.
when I use that brain and consider everything, it looks to me as if God never existed. so I think he'd want me to be an atheist. that's a bit odd, but true.
when I die, if there's a heaven (I doubt it) I'm sure god will say to me - 'well done, son. you figured it out. there was no reason for you to believe in me. now come on in."

Learning about Him and understanding His will for us is what we were created to do. It is the real purpose for our existence and what will truly make us complete.
He communicates to us through His word with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Why would God want anything from me or from anyone else? Is he that insecure? I don't understand why a supposed creator would need worship. I created my daughter, and I expect her to be polite and civil to me, and I hope that she respects me, but I'll be damned if I expect her to worship me.
