Hi Jordan,
Although I don't have the problem myself, one of my best friends does, and she has been able to almost totally overcome it, except when she's really under pressure, like the boss yelling at her........ someone told her to practice whispering, that you don't stutter when you whisper. So she has done this for several years, and speaks very softly, without stuttering. You might try it, alone in your room at first, reading out loud in a whisper, and see if it works as well for you. Once you gain confidence, you can do it in public, in a soft voice, and no one will think anything of it, except that you're soft spoken. (some women love a soft spoken man too!)

Hey don't feel bad at all sometimes these things happen. You couldn't help that it happened, but you can change it. This is only temporary so don't worry so much. Do you ever sing? People who stutter can sing, without stuttering. Of course it is going to take work you need to practice and retrain yourself how to speak without stuttering. Don't let something like this make you unhappy, I know easier said than done, but really if you put your mind to it and practice you can change the way you talk and whatever you want to change.
In your life remember if you don't like something you can always change it to whatever you want it to be. Nothing good comes easy because you wont appreciate it unless you earn it. And you can't experience great joy unless you have it's opposite. Be patient with yourself it does take some time, the more patient you are the faster you will achieve your goals. Being too hard on yourself will only make more problems for yourself. Also why are you going to pick on someone that didn't even do anything wrong it wasn't his fault. Learn all you can I mean that is what we are supposed to be doing anyways, and allow yourself to be wrong because that is how we grow. Good luck and stay with it you can do it.

Several of my uncles and cousins used to stutter. They all found help through The Stuttering Foundation with one going to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering and all of them using the Foundation's book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer." Check out their web site at www.stutteringhelp.org and see if there is a specialist near you. Ask you library for the book or order your own copy from the e-store.

#1: practice speaking slowly ... it actually helps the problem and covers up the stuttering sometimes as well...
#2: find a speech therapist and get treated. Therapists learn how to help you overcome stuttering.
#3: have your parents check with their insurance company to see if the insurance will cover the cost of speech therapy... or first, ask the therapist for suggestions on how to get it covered by insurance...
That makes the hit on the pocket book lighter and easier to handle. Your parents will appreciate your efforts to lessen the cost of your treatment.

there are many therapies that are currently known to help people who stutter. you should speak to your dr and school to see if you can be referred to a speach pathologist who can help you. Also do some research on the internet and look for a support group, they often know about trials and programs that your dr may not yet be aware of.
Don't give you - you can do anything you put your mind to - a close friend growing up had a stutter - and she is now a doctor!!!

Your going to need to see a speech therapist and its going to take time to retrain your speech. The thing is you may always struggle with this, but you can improve on it. Look for local speech therapist and get involved with it as soon as possible. Hopefully you still have insurance and can get this taken care of before your insurance laps at 18
