No, but just to be on the safe side, if it's still connected to a TV or any other equipment, disconnect it from that too.

Once it's not connected to any other equipment, the worst that will happen is that you might cut your finger on a sharp metal part inside, so handle it carefully.

You can't get electrocuted, but you will get quite a shock, depending on what u touch and if you are "grounded"

play it safe...just unplug it before u open it up

EDIT: I believe that you rephrased your question..it originally asked if you would get shocked by opening up a plugged in dvd player. Since you changed your question...the answer is no, some electrical components may hold charge after being disconnected so after unplugging the dvd player hold down the power button for 5 seconds or so to release the charge and then you won't get any sort of schock

Chances are not probable but there have been known electronics that hold energy in the capacitors after they have been unplugged and they deliver quite a shock. What you wanna do is unplug the DVD player then press the power button a couple of times to discharge any held power then let it sit for a while then again press the power button one more time, then you can open it. Its better to be safe than sorry you know.

kiki go with what D STARS said, he is totally correct, most if not all electonics have capacitors that hold charge even after unpluging it, i think this will even ease off the carges even more, play it safe, turn it on if it works and unplug it while on, then try to turn it on after unplugin it (on the button, not on the remote) and this should discharge the capacitor completely, anyways capcitors in dvd players dont hold enough charge to harm you so anyway dont even worry

No, but you can receive an electrical discharge, because some devises can storage electricity, for example monitors, capacitors, etc.

The problem is that people sometimes forget not to open a plugged devise or not to play with the electrodomestic devises near water; and those activities could be very dangerous.

no,
