i know how to feed him, i have been doing it for about a month now, i just wasnt expecting him to throw me a curveball!!! i know you mean well, but you cant just give up your pet when you have difficulties, you take care of them and continue to love them, its not a life or death situation, thats why im asking here, i have found help here before but if i should ever have an emergency, ill definately consult the vet. i ended up feeding him because i was being taken advantage of by a breeder, i got a conure and the grey at the same time, well while feeding the sun, she got a high offer for it and sold it, so i just took my grey, and she found me a new sun a couple of weeks later,i know it was a long shot but i didnt want my grey sold,i already loved him. i eventually found out that she WASN'T handfeeding the sun her self, somebody else was charging her to do it, so she decided to try handfeeding and my poor grey was her first.

im sorry, i should have given more detail. i have been spoonfeeding him, he was being fed with a syringe but i believe spoonfeeding is better,i have read extensively about abundance weaning, and thats what i have been trying, he gets seeds, vegetables, pellets and a little fruit, i also give him millet as a treat. he has a fantastic appetite, i have to fill his dish constantly and he doesnt spill much,he seems to enjoy eating. he is NEVER denied a meal because i read that the feedings also fulfill his psychological needs, he is taking very little in his morning feeding, and didnt cry for his dinner like he usually does. i took him out played with him, cuddled him and waited but no sign of hunger- formula that is. he has zupreem pellets, which he loves, abba seed mix and some other things recomended by a reputable breeder/handfeeder that i recently met(too late,i know) his crop seems full, and he is very active- flies to us, plays with toys etc...

Let the bird tell you when it wants to eat and when it doesn't. He'll refuse the hand feeding when he's ready. Don't be in a rush--just make sure he's eating well on his own before stopping completely. The best way to tell if he's OK is to weigh him frequently. Baby birds will lose a little weight during weaning, but shouldn't lose too much.

You should then just skip the night feeding and feed him again in the morning. Some birds will just do that.

Im pretty sure that you should have a liscence and training to handle and treat baby or any birds, even if its just a robin in your front yard. Consult someone like a vet to see if they cn take it and do whats best for it. After all, they do have the training.
