When in doubt, a trip to the vet will always be the safest bet. I recommend calling your vet's office and speaking to someone this evening to just ensure that it's not an emergency. There are typically forwarding numbers left on a vet's answering machine or service that will guide you on who to call if they are closed.
However, I do want to put you at ease in noting that 3 oz. of cheese is not an exceptional amount, though anything can overwhelm a 12 lb. dog's system. You might provide lots of water and be on the lookout for loose stool. It might not be surprising if your dog vomits. Please keep a very close watch on her and at the first sign of anything concerning, get her seen and treated. More than likely, she will have an upset stomach that might play out over the next couple of days, but cheese is not toxic to dogs and she will probably be just fine. :)

I would at least recommend calling the vet-the dog may become constipated from all that cheese. See what the vet says-if to come in, do so. Take care.

This is the ASPCA animal poison control number. I've used it before. They are very helpful and do a wonderful job. (888) 426-4435. A $55 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card. They can tell you if you need to take your dog in or how you can treat it at home.

I wouldn't think so. But give dog plenty of water, and don't feed her today.Plus hide the cheese. Good Luck!

You probably won't need to take her to the vet, but cheese will probably constipate her like it does in humans.
