to understand how to just lay down in our bed in rest. He's sick and I wouldn't mind him just resting beside us so we can keep an eye on him but he's always so restless....I'm sure its because he thinks he can only sleep in a crib.

Anyone else have a little one like this?

He may not be able to rest because he doesn't feel well, or there is just too much to look at that is different from his own bed. Try gently, slowly rubbing his back or cheek, almost like a slow tickle. It worked for my mom and me. My mom raised 11 children. (Me, only 2). It also helps with older children who are having trouble relaxing due to pain.

Try rocking him to sleep in your arms, and then laying him down. Sick little ones just need to be comforted and feel as loved as possible so they can get better quickly. Once he keeps waking up in your bed it should be easier for him to drift off to sleep.

Or...

Let him sip on some juice an listen to soothing music. I can't even resist that.

If possible I would try to move his crib into your room near your bed until he is better so you can keep an eye on him and he is sleeping somewhere that is somewhat familiar.
