I was indifferent to abortion until my son was born. It was an unbelivable experience as I watch my wife give birth. I could never be for abortion again.
However, I still believe it is a personal choice. I really get tired of others trying to tell people how to live their life, whether it is abortion, or gay rights, or so many other issues. The government has no business making abortion illegal. They should not try to legislate morality. They would be better off providing sex education and birth control. This would drastically reduce the number of abortions.

Here's a thought...maybe the government should provide free (or at least low cost) birth control to all people. Many unwanted pregnancies are caused by a lack of availability of birth control (particularly in poor urban areas). That would eliminate a large number of women thinking of having an abortion. Of course, there will always be those that refuse to use birth control. For those, the government should make raising a child more affordable by subsidizing health care, food, housing, etc. for the entire population. Also, parenting classes, daycare, and other programs that will improve the quality of life for the children and parents should be instituted. If raising a child were easier, perhaps there would be less wnat for abortions. Ok, so here's the reason this won't work... all of the right wingers that oppose abortion are also against providing the basics of life for people. Basically, they want you to have a baby, but don't want to help you care for it.

Definitely pro-choice, it's a decision for the mother (and father) to decide. Personally, I would not make a decision to abort a baby (but who knows). But I strongly believe it is a moral decision that the people involved should make. It's should not be a decision for the government or laws to control. Counseling and education is the better course.

Abortion is condemned in the Bible as child sacrifice. I believe that abortion is the killing of innocent people. Funny that the ones in favor of killing babies are opposed to the death penalty of convicted guilty felons.
There is so much evidence that shows that babies are living beings in their mothers womb. Not to mention that women who have abortions are more likely to develop cancer, need to be put on anti-depressants, and usually have a greater risk of many other diseases and medical problems than women who do not have abortions.
The arguments are that it is the women's body and that she should be able to make her own decisions. What does the Bible say about it, in 1 Corinthians 6:19 it states, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
God says your body belongs to Him, so then that argument fails if compared to scripture. Too many women nowadays use abortion as birth control. As the world has gotten more promiscuous, more and more diseases and plagues have come to the world.
Hope that answers you question from a Christian point of view.
On a lighter note, they could always have the child and get Angelina Jolie to adopt the child. Oh, sorry, thats right she won't adopt American babies.

I'm Muslim and in Islam the only way a mother is allowed to have an abortion is if her life is in danger like she could die if she were to continue with the pregnancy. That is the only time ALLAH(SWT) will forgive and understand why the woman had to get an abortion. If a woman wants an abortion and her husband doesn't want it to happen then the abortion doesn't happen because the father has more rights to the children then the mother because the father supports the children.

Christian--- Pro-choice. If a baby isn't wanted, the mother is either going to have a illegal abortion, or the baby will have a pretty rotten life. An illegal abortion is much less safe, and who wants to be responsible for making life rotten for someone? And of course their is rape, and and disease and the mother/babies death... However I do believe that people need to be a lot more careful with who they have sex with and to use birth control. It is always the mothers choice--- it's her body. However the father should, like the mother have the opportunity to disclaim himself from the child (aka not having to pay child support).

I'm an atheist. I feel that abortion should be allowed until the development of the neocortex, which is uniquely advanced in humans, and can be thought of as the part which makes us "human". While the embryo is certainly human before this point, it is not very well developed, and there isn't much to identify it as human. It looks quite a lot like the embryos of other mammals. The neocortex barrier would draw the line at around 6 months. Abortions beyond six months should only be done in cases where the mother's life is in danger.

I think it's a sad and life-changing thing for a woman to go through. I think that it's awful that in this day and age, a woman feels the need to take the life of her precious baby because she can find no other alternative.
I think there is so much we can do as a society to help such a woman. Like making adoption not so expensive for hopeful couples (but keep the strictures on it, we don't want pedophiles getting babies). Or providing the woman with incentives to keep her child. Taking the stigma out of being a single parent. So many things we could do, and don't.

people should think before they have sex about what can happen if they do have sex.if they get pregnant and don't want the baby, i think they should put it up for adoption not up for slaughter.it my be not be fully developed it still a life. if it is a life and death situation that may be acceptable, no one has the right to take another life.

Abortion is wrong. It's murder, not birth control. I also think anyone who has an abortion should be sterilized. If you kill one baby, you don't deserve to have another.
