i let my sister, her husband, and their 3 kids move in with me and my family, until they could get on their feet. after about a month, her husband up and leaves her and the kids for a drug binge, and some girl, too.did i mention that he is very physically and mentally abusive? anyway, after a week, he finally calls, and she decides to go back with him. they get a motel for a week, and within that time, he takes all her money, and leaves her and the kids with no food, and no car, he got away with 460 dollars, so you can imagine what hes going to do.. after she decided to go back with him, i told her she couldnt come back, but being the nice sister i am, am letting her, mostly because of the kids. is there any help here for single mothers, like for shelter, or housing?

Girl...you're crazy! I understand she's your sister, but she needs to wake up and get her priorities straight...like her children. That man is no good for her and definitely no good for those babies. Good luck and God bless.

There are shelters for battered women with children. Do you think your sister would be willing to go to one? I know from experience that once a man abuses a woman, it won't stop. Most likely, it is going to get worse. I hope your sister will get help. If not for herself, then for her kids. If the kids continue being exposed to this type of behavior, they are going to grow up thinking it's normal, and will probably end up the same way. Remember...if you take your sister in, you could risk being an enabler, which doesn't help the situation. Maybe you could ask her to leave the kids with you, while she tries to get back on her feet. The kids don't deserve to live in an abusive environment.

there is a lot of help available if she's willing to except it. you can check with the local police or sheriffs office or call your county government office for shelters. they'll help her get on her feet.
