All antipsychotic medications (both typical and atypical) work by blocking dopamine receptors and well as having some effects on other neurotransmitters, including serotonin. Newer forms of atypical medications have effect serotonin levels.

atypicals reduce levels of neurotransmitters, esp. serotonin.
typicals reduce levels of dopamine.

ssri will block the serotonin receptors, never heard them called atypicals tho.
antipsychotics do indeed block dopamine uptake.
