Have some fresh flowers waiting for her. Make sure the house is picked up and all nice a tidy. Then enjoy your family! Be ready for company and remember to help out!!
Another thought, go out and make sure you have plenty of her favorite snacks and drinks!!! Just an added bonus!

Ooooh...I wish my husband had asked this question!
Call your mom and her mom....have them call all of your Aunts and the "Ladies from Church" and see if they will make you some easy to make casseroles for the freezer. Then clean the whole house, especially the bedroom(s) and the bathroom. Have the entrance to your home look welcoming, like a very important guest is coming (who is more important than your first born child and the woman who gave birth to her?)
Have the bed (your bed) made with fresh sheets and blankets, and flowers and a candle on the nightstand. Have extra sheets ready to go on the bed in case she bleeds on them (she will bleed for a couple of weeks or more) or the baby spits up (or worse) in the bed.
Have everything easy...then you can both really enjoy your new child and your new life!

Just have the house tidy and some meals in the fridge. Don't go to the pub the minute she's home and under no circumstances expect any housework to be done. Earn some points for the future and vacuum, wash and clean the bathroom without being asked!
Good Luck!

Get a weekly maid service as the both of you will not be thinking about cleaning for awhile.
Wake up at night with the baby and don't always rely on her to deal with the nightly feedings. If she is breastfeeding, make and effort to get up once in awhile with her so she's not alone.
Shouldn't you be at the hospital with her? How is she getting home?

Be ready to lend a hand and don't be afraid to hold the baby. Then make sure she can get some rest - because she will need it. Be supportive AND DON'T, I mean DON'T take things she says in anger at you personally - it is most likely postpardom blues and more often than not - it will pass. She may not let on - but she is just as anxious as you - we just have a better way of hiding it.

1) Clean the house
2) Get some food ready
3) Set her a place where she can rest
4) Offer to take care of the baby
5) Take messages, but try to let her rest in quiet with the new baby.
This is, however, assuming that this is after you pick her up.

COOK!! coming from the hospital with at least 3 meals, home to no meals and you have to cook yourself, and God forbid the refrige is empty! we need to eat. i lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks from leaving the hospital and not having handy meals. i guess if she gained a lot of weight it will help her lose.

make sure the house is picked up. Dishes done, laundry done. Make your bed up with clean sheets. Have a meal ready for her. Little things like that will make it a lot easier on your wife! Congrats on your baby!
