6 figures?? LOL- maybe the t.v. evangelists who try to "fleece the flock". Not any of the pastors and preachers I've ever known!

How much a preacher makes or more accurately stated DOESN'T make has NO bearing on whether or not your soul gets to heaven. John 3:16 says nothing about money! It's all about faith or lack thereof. How much do you thing missionaries make? You want to talk about the high price of investing in lost souls? Go to bible college for 4-6 years, learn a foreign language, get married along the way, have a couple of kids while you're at it and then sell your belongings, kiss your friends and family goodbye for 2-5 years, pack up your stuff, move to a foreign country, try to learn the culture, assimilate it, and then try to explain the bible and God's love and what He did for humanity to those "foreigners" while YOU are the alien! Oh and by the way, your pay is based only on what the supporting church(es) back home can raise for you. 6 figures is a pipe dream! I know, your question was about preachers. Well, lets address that specifically. What in your opinion is a "fair" salary for someone that has to have committees help him manage the business because there are so many facets to it that no one can manage it alone? There's a building that needs maintenance and repairs, grounds that need to be kept. A clientelle that demands immediate access to the CEO at all hours of the day, a man that has to approve or disprove curriculum, programs, hire individuals with skills in music, psychology, raising kids, raising teens, provide advice to young couples, perform weddings and preside at funerals, attend family events, incorporate youth programs, programs to help overcome addictive behaviors, reconcile marriages, counsel countless individuals through divorce and other life changing events, prepare a message that will capture the attention and speak to the hearts of those in attendance, just to name a few and all the while, maintain his sanity, his marriage, raise a family, provide food, shelter and health care for his family and plan for the future of his children and grandchildren and do this while living in a fish-bowl under a microscope for the scrutiny of anyone and everyone? Type that up as the requirements for the CEO of any corporation and see how many people apply? Add to that a devotion to a God most people refuse to believe in, live a life of integrity, and doing everything as best as you can to bring honor and glory to the God you love and serve and place everyone that comes to you above yourself. If you ask me our pastors are not only underpaid, but very much unappreciated. That's why I love and support my pastor!

Most preachers don't get any salary.
In 1975 I was paid a salary of $25.00 per week, plus I was given a free place to live including utilities.
Since then I've put food on the table by working a secular job and have not drawn any kind of church supported salary.
Occationallly I've been given honorariums, but in the last 30 years the grand total of all honorariums was less than $1,000.00.
That's not per year, that's the grand total for all 30 years.
So no, most preachers don't make anything close to a 6 figure income.

Dear jennyann4,
Very few preachers receive that much money. It all depends on the size of the church. i know that all Pastors at Calvary Chapels - (i had read this somewhere) make $60,000 annually and they are in charge of congregations up to 2,000 plus people.
There are preachers that make 6 digits. That it the decision of that church and their leadership. And off course there are those who aren't true shepherds and take advantage of their position for wealth (the Bible has much to say as to what to look for in a Pastor) and also has much to say about those who use their position and exploit God's purposes- obviously a corrupt Pastor who is stealing money from the church is not a true servant of God.
i think Pastors do have to make a living - and do have families to take care of. And they should be paid well enough to take care of their families.
i'm a part-time youth pastor and make less than $1,000/month from my church- so i also have a full time job and between the two jobs make enough money to pay the rent, bills, and to feed my dog and myself.
Kindly,
Nickster

No, the average pastor makes about $20,000 a year. It really depends on the size of the church, and the amount of money they can afford to pay. Most good pastors won't accept a very large salary, because they feel that the money can be better put to use toward doing God's work.
I feel wary of pastors that want exorbitant salaries.
Hope this helps...

I would say most preachers make around $50,000 in a decent church. That includes Sunday ,usually 2 services.Wed. Bible study and counciling all week days.Plus weddings and baptisims. On top of that ,running the church business.I'd say" a workman worth his wages"as St. Paul would say.The biggest "Comp" would be on Holy Land Trips .If he gets enough to go ,he goes for free.

The answer to your 1st question is No. The answer to your second question is also No. The real price to get your soul to heaven was much higher.

The ones on TV are more like 7 figures.
True ripoff artists.
Time to start taxing religions since they operate like business, huge payouts to their leaders, and advertise to recruit new customers.
