Is there a difference between Spirituality and Religion or must one be religious to become Spiritual.

Religion is a useful way for those with similar spiritual beliefs to find community and common purpose.

Belief systems of any sort aren't restricted to formal organizations.

I can have political beliefs and not be a member of a party.
I can have spiritual beliefs and not be a member of a religion.

Clearer?

I was never religious but became spiritual. Religion to me smacks of organized religion, which sucks and is dying. Spirituality is something you find within yourself, where the Kingdom of God is as Jesus Christ said, not in a physical church.

Of course....spirituality is not the same thing as being religious.

I'm very spiritual and I'm an Atheist...no religion.

I am not particularly thrilled with either one. I am a follower of Christ....you can be religious about most anything...a religion is just a strong belief in something..now spiritual is just a wee bit different...it means that your senses are touched by something,,,,say a tree,,,,as in tree huggers,,,sun worshipers....etc...you could say they are spiritual....neither would be Christian..however, you can be filled with the spirit of God....and some might call you spiritual...I just call you a child of God.

Spirituality quite often has nothing at all to do with religion.

Yes, spirituality is about your personal beliefs, religion is how other people tell you your beliefs should be expressed.

Personally, I don't think so. I think that spirituality is a word that people use to describe themselves when they don't have religion but don't want everyone else to think that they don't have a belief system or moral code that they adhere to.
