Muhammad must have sinned according to God, therefore I ask if Muhammad was a sinner? The Qu'ran seems to say he was.
Jesus was sinless (Sura 3:46), but Muhammad sinned and needed forgiveness (Sura 40:55: "Ask forgiveness of thy sin"; 42:5: "Ask forgiveness for those on the Earth"; 47:19: "Ask forgiveness for thy sin" ; 48:2: "that Allah may forgive thee of thy sin").
The Bible has an explanation for why Christ was the only sinless man as He was the Son of God a part of the whole of God who was perfect to pay the penalty of death for all.
Does the Qu'ran explain why Christ was sinless when all other men sin?

Muhammad I have asked and will ask again...Why is Muhammad parying for forgiveness ofr hi sins and why does Allah require him ro do so? If Allah is a righteous God and some men can overcome sin why are all not required to do so? The Bible says ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Adam inherited death as the Bible says it is the reson he is dead and all men do sin and die, It is the reason for the atonement.

Sarah Are you saying a man can be both righteous and a sinner? When the true word of God says God is righteous it truly means without sin. How can a man be righteous and sin? Righteous Morally upright; without guilt or sin:

Is Holy and Righteous and sinful the same thing in Islam?
Can Jesus be a Holy Rightoeus man who sins...Does the Allah of Islam have a differn't view of holy and righteous than the God I worship?

Moonlit I think you are misunderstanding your Qu'ran Allah is telling Muhammad to pray for forgiveness. You interpret this as Allah telling Muhamad to be humble?
couldn't Allah simply say be humble?
Would Allah ask a man to ask for forgiveness for something he did not do simply to humiliate the man?
Allah wanted Muhammad to pray for forgiveness even though Muhmnad was sinless?

Fes your 3 definitions according to heritage dictionary
1.Morally upright; without guilt or sin: a righteous parishioner.
2. In accordance with virtue or morality: a righteous judgment.
3.Morally justifiable: righteous anger. See Synonyms at moral.
The first is always the best and is applied ot most situations
If your god is rihgteous rihgteous implies perfection..If Allah has a lesser definition of righteousness than a man I would shudder to think what God you worship.

"Oh God, I acknowledge and confess before You, all my sins, please forgive them, as no one can forgive sins except You. Forgive my mistakes, those done intentionally, or out of my ignorance, with or without seriousness. Oh God, forgive my sins and my ignorance, forgive my sins of the past and of the future, which I did openly or secretly. Forgive the wrong I have done, jokingly or seriously. I seek Your protection from all the evil I have done. Wash away my sins, and cleanse my heart, from all the sins as a white garment is cleansed from the filth, and let there be long distance between me and my sins, as You made the East and West far from each other."

That prayer was prayed by Muhammad. It is a synthesis of his personal prayers found in Sahih Bukhari Volume 8: #s 335, 379, 407, and 408, [1]. Muhammad knew clearly he was a sinner; thus he makes his confession public. Over and over again he stated he was a sinner. The Quran he spoke identifies him as a sinner. Yet many Muslims today say that Muhammad was not a sinner.

Muhammad, the whole point of the crucifiction was God could not be joined to sin..the point of him leaving Christ flesh when Christ took the sins of the world upon his flesh is demonstrated here.
If Christ were a man it would make perfect sense that he should not be worshiped..Christ was not a mere man but also a perfect God and there is only ONE God.

It is a fact that Jesus alone is proclaimed in the Qur'an as the sinless prophet of Islam There is no passage in the Qur'an which attributes sin to Jesus, and no shadow of a suggestion that He had, like Muhammad, to ask forgiveness for himself.
The Koran, while mentioning the sins of Adam, David, Solomon and other prophets, leaves no doubt as regards the purity of the character of Jesus.
This teaching is backed up by a remarkable tradition in one of the major works of Hadith literature:
The Prophet said, 'No child is born but that, Satan touches it when it is born whereupon it starts crying loudly because of being touched by Satan, except Mary and her son'. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 6, p. 54).
However, Islam could not tolerate the suggestion that Jesus alone was sinless, even though both the Qur'an and Hadith clearly teach this, and so formulated the isma doctrine in defiance of their teaching.
Islam has sought to raise Muhammad to the same status by teaching that he was also sinless and was at one time taken to heaven in the mi'raj.
Neither of these teachings, however, has a Quranic foundation and both were apparently invented to prevent the Saviour of the Christian faith from standing head and shoulders above the Prophet of Islam in his very own religion.
An unconscious tendency prevailed to draw a picture of Muhammed that should not be inferior to the Christian picture of Jesus.

One of the contributes of all Prophets was that they were HUMBLE and even though Allah told them they were Prophets... They knew and believed that the only perfection, is Allah. What kind of a Prophet would Muhammad (pbuh) be if he said that he is sinless? The prophet used to ask for forgiveness day and night NOT because he thought he sinned or did something wrong but because he believed that you must be humble and modest, not carry any arrogance or pride in your heart.
(Sura 40:55: "Ask forgiveness of thy sin"; 42:5: "Ask forgiveness for those on the Earth"; 47:19: "Ask forgiveness for thy sin" ; 48:2: "that Allah may forgive thee of thy sin").
Where in these surahs does it say.. *Muhammad* ask forgiveness for thy sin?? These are general commands by Allah to all of human kind.
If Allah can say that no one can become a believer without saying...I witness that there is no illah (god) but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is Rasul (Messenger) of Allah
.. why would Allah say that he was a sinner?... All prophets were sin free... and they had to be.. they were Prophets for a good reason. No one can reach the scope of their humility and humanity.
Thus Allah will certainly know those who are truthful, and Allah will certainly know the liars. (29:3)
EDIT---
correction. YOU are taking the Quran out of context. AND I NEVER SAID that Allah is the one that told him to be humble. I said it was one of the attributes of the Prophet (pbuh) to FEAR Allah and to be humble. (That's exactly why he was the prophet)... and where does it say in the Quran that he sinned? Also-- When Allah was saying that to the Prophet it was not directed towards him. You have to speak arabic to understand the true meaning behind it. That was a message--so that this message can be given to the others.
So please read the whole answer and the WHOLE Quran with actual in dept translation and you will know what I mean. Trust me.. I never said i'm a Quran scholar but I do know more about MY religion then YOU do.
Peace
EDIT # 2-------

WHAT'S YOUR POINT. AS I SAID BEFORE AND WILL SAY AGAN HE USED TO SAY THIS ALL THE TIME BECAUSE HE FEARED ALLAH. DOESN'T MEAN HE WAS SINFUL. ***I don't have to pound this into your head. Those who choose to be ignorant will stay that way.***

Ayat 3:46 in all 3 Qur'an translations that I happen to have on hand states that Jesus (pbuh) was one of the righteous.
Righteous and sinless are not the same thing.
In my humble opinion, righteousness is a prerequisite for prophethood. All prophets were righteous and some extraordinarily good people are righteous although they are not prophets.
And God knows best...

Great point! Here's more
The Qur'an affirms the miraculous birth of Christ (see Surah 19:16-21). Jesus was in this sense "God's unique Son." During His earthly ministry He carried out the will of the Father. Notably the Qur'an affirms Jesus' supernatural birth, life of miracles, His compassion, and ascension to heaven. (see Surah 19:16-21,29-31; 3:37-47, 5:110.)
The Qur'an states in Surah 3:55 that "Allah said: O Isa [Jesus], I am going to terminate [to put to death] the period of your stay (on earth) and cause you to ascend unto Me."1 What other way could this concept have any meaning apart from Jesus' death for sin and His subsequent resurrection?

All the prophets where infallible from Adam to Mohammad, if it was not so how can the message be trusted, the whole chain has to be perfect or it will be flawed, if i believe for one second any of the messengers were fallible i will discard the whole message, i did not always believe, believe me i questioned.
Edit:, father why have you forsaken me that is far from infallible, if you you believe Jesus said that.
