I have twin three year old boys that have figured out every kind of baby gate I have. (top of stairs mounting, pressure gate) If they havent figured it out they have climbed it. What else can I do. If you are not familiar with twins, they do not talk well, therefore, telling them something is close to impossible.

when a child is old enough to figure out a gate it's time to stop using one just tell the that if they in forbidden area a large monster will eat the then go buy a mask from the dollar store make sure it's scary looking and jump out at them if they try to go in the area after you told them not to in your scariest voice say that your hungry and enjoy eating small boys who don't listen to their parent

Baby gates are for babies, your twins are three. Look at the warning labels on the gates, they all say, "discontinue use once child can defeat gate." This means that when your kids can climb over or open the gates and fall down the stairs, it's just time to teach them how to navigate stairs.
Everyone values their privacy and peace of mind, but you work with what you have. What you have right now is twin three-year-old boys.

Sorry to say it but there's not a whole lot you can do except close the door...if they haven't figured that one out yet too. My 1 year old has figured out how to climb any kind of gate we put up so it doesn't do us any good either. They do understand punishment so after a while they'll learn not to do it anymore. You just have to keep a close eye on them until then. Good luck.

it sounds like the twins are pretty clever to be able to open the gates all the time. maybe you should exploit that in some way. try and give them an iq test. maybe they can get into mensa like that 2 year old did

at three, even if they can't talk well they can listen. Time out for opening gates, they will learn fast.
