I'm a teenage photographer trying to decide whether photography is the right career path to take, and it's very hard to find people that are interested enough in/know enough about photography to help me out with constructive criticism on my shots. It's a bit tougher for me to learn without opinions.

I've picked out my 5 favorite/best shots and I would greatly appreciate any kind of criticism on any or all of the shots.

I took all the photos with a simple, relatively cheap digital camera (less than $200), and the only editing I did was the black and white filter, and a bit of contrast adjustment. No photoshopping other than that.

I really appreciate comments, any type. Thank you so much.

The first one was neat, but seemed a little "forced" somehow, maybe a look of surprise or something would be more realistic. The best thing to me on this is actually not so much the face but the fact that the focal point is not dead center and you used black and white.

My favorite is the second one. I had to keep looking at it again. It is ninety degrees here today and I felt like I could touch those drops (and would like to!). I liked the sense of melancholy on the third one, the photo reallys sets the vibe of the mood.

The flower is nice, but could use a little sharpening and perhaps some cropping.

I didn't care for the composition of the last one, but I think it could make a good texture piece. I actually think taking it from a lower position may have helped that one. Also, adding in a slight blur to the stuff more distant may help with the focus.

Very nice. Delete the yellow rose. It is not in focus, and no amount of photoshop will fix it.
I like the leaf with water drops, good job there. Also the camera lens portrait is interesting. The window portrait less so, and the greenery just doesn't do much for me, it seems to have to focal point or subject.

Keep studying and practicing, you have a good start here.

Your photos are nice but they dont scream at me. I love that last one.

On a different note.

Have you ever heard of having more then one sister. My sister the artist lives in texas, my sister with the 3 children lives in my house SO you should shut your mouth before you start accusing me of trying to cheat and steal from people because I am a good all american christian woman and I for one dont think that your going to get anywhere in in life tearing down someone whos just trying to get help for her sister. And yes I would like a camera because ive already given everything i had to my sister. I sold my belongs because i was just a young girl with no worries, like children. How dare you. I, unlike the rest of the world, have a heart of gold. I would throw my self in front of a train to save a complete stranger. Im not like every other loser trying to make a buck. Maybe i was wrong for asking for a camera but i actually earn the fact that someone would just give me something. So get your facts straight before you go bringing someone else down.

I love the first three, the first one in particular. I have a camera very similar to that Canon... ah, memories. Anyway, quite original, those three. The last two however, should just be deleted from your portfolio, and forget they ever happened.

What kind of camera did you use to take it with, did you do any post processing to the images?
Are you looking for criticism in composition... technique.... or artistic expression. Even with photography there are many different sub-categories and each requires different skill, technique, and/or equipment to do those task.
It is easier to critique a picture if you state the purpose or what you were trying to achieve in each photography.

The first shot is.. Wow.

I love that first picture. <3 A lot. The black and white adds a great effect to it.

It's my favorite out of all five of those pictures.

I think they are nice. You should really consider developing your portfolio and apply to art school for photography.
