I am a deist, which has nothing to do with any organized religion. If you do not know what a deist is here the link
http://www.deism.com/deism_defined.htm
I REJECT any organized religion and just have a belief that there is a creator, an intelligent designer. PERIOD.Many philosophers and scientists were and are deists .
You seem to be confusing what DEISM is with REVEALED RELIGIONS and attacking anyone that has a belief in a higher power. Many have a different concept of what God IS that has nothing to do with the Abrahamic God.
Why do you get so angry only becasue I believe in a higher entity? In my belief no one is sent to hell, there is no Church involved, no pageantry or songs to learn, no Salvation doctrines, just a personal relationship with God. SO why does it bother you so much?

That doesn't bother me at all. It's the notion that some people go around saying that anyone who doesn't agree with them is going to hell that really gets me riled up. Your beliefs are much nicer and fine by me.

I personally am atheist and have never had a problem w/ any deist. Those that do are probably just ignorant as to what a deist actually is. My problem is w/ religion and it looks like we are in agreement there. The tricky thing about being deist is that it uses the same reasoning as many theistic people use. However, that alone is not a problem. Believing that one could somehow know that a god exists or even know what he wants/needs from or us or even that such a being would want/need at all is ridiculous. So no problem here ;)

Some of us (atheists) become upset and combative for the same reasons some Christians do. They have very strong believes which they forcefully express, to be fair its worth mentioning that you will find more of these passionate people in a category with such a very targeted purpose (such as this one).

In response to your question I am not bothered at all, your beliefs do not infringe on my rights.

P.s. I thought your beliefs were characterized as “agnostic” was I mistaken or is this a synonym?

I don't care what you believe or don't believe.
What I DO care about is people with religious delusion forcing their beliefs into our schools and government, and the fact that religion has caused more hate, violence, and murder than any other cause in the history of man.
If you want to believe that there is an invisible man, living in the clouds, granting wishes, and performing magic, that is your business.
I do find it odd that you DO believe in a man-made idea (worship of a 'higher power',) yet you reject all of the stuff that goes along with it. But, to each his own, I guess.

Actually, deists tend not to bother me. This is why I specifically mention theists when I critique religion.

That doesn't mean I think deism is a good position to take, since it still involves believing in something for which there is no evidence. However, I don't find deists particularly offensive.

It doesn't bother me as such. It worries me that you still accept a god without a shred of evidence, organized or not. And that's lazy.

You appear to have made no effort to actually study comparative religion, philosophy, cosmology, or indeed anything that may give you a better grounding for your belief. Instead you blindly accept that there may be something that is a creator, and simply personalize it. Not good.

To be honest, it doesn't bother me a bit. I can only speak for myself, but I really don't care what people believe as far as God goes. I know some atheists get bent out of shape but I am a very tolerant person. I have to assume many other atheists are, too.

Doesn't bother me. I don't share your beliefs but at least you aren't using them to justify political views. Deism tends not to cloud judgement the way organized religion does.

Doesnt bother me a bit. Why does the fact that I have no need for a higher entity in my life anger you?? Oh, it doesnt?? Then why are you assuming your beleifs anger atheists???

Truth is, the universe looks exactly how it is expected to look without a Creator. So, why need one?

I think you're great! Deists don't tend to fly airplanes into buildings and take away basic human rights.
