I've been lifting for a while, but I quit getting sore after about a two weeks. Now I have a friend telling me that if I'm not getting sore I'm not doing it right. Is this true?

No that is foolish, you should feel the "burn" but no pains.

If your goal is to get stronger you need to keep lifting against increasing resistance (constantly increasing the weight). When you do this you damage the muscle which causes the delayed pain 12 to 24 hours later.

This doesn't mean that you can not do recovery workouts while your muscles are still sore, when you want to take it easy.

No, it is not true. As long as you are doing the lifting right, like not arching your back when benching etc. then it does not matter if you are sore or not. As long as you are working out with a good amount of intensity and not overworking yourself then your fine!

No, you would get sore, if you were just starting out. You will get a "burn", and thats all. It will only last a short while.

Yes. You have to get sore because your muscles are "ripping". If you are doing it wrong, they wont rip.
