After all, you live in the world. Your children will live here after you are gone. Does religious belief (or lack thereof) really mean that we can't work together for the common good?

Lets just forget all of what G-d has said with his word, What blood has been shed in Jesus Christ his son, and what truths have come to light by way of the Holy Spirit?

hi RE-VERN C dad here i try ed a thing 15 yrs ago call a random act of kindness after Oprah show in n.y.c. i start to cc over up graffiti in my street 15 yrs later in TeX I'm still doing it and help the homeless canteen and give blood 1 gal club so start where you are planted and do a random act of kindness jump start a car mow a lawn shop for a homeless person its all about love Jesus said when you did it for the lease of my children you did it for me..amen give a cold drink to some one luv dad p.s. save a soul on line love dad

The problem is defining the "common good", when "common" includes all human beings on the face of the earth. There are and have always been many human beings who will hate and kill those who love any given definition of "common good", among atheists, agnostics, and religionists of every stripe.

Of course we can work together for the common good. The problem is that we all look to making sure we don't have to do as much as the next person. Try and let someone else pay for it. Let someone else go to war. Let someone else suffer.

However, if you're religious you are by definition gullible, therefore you have all sorts of other worries to think about before you can make the world a better place.

yes we must (in the name of God/Allah) build this world make a better place but everyone has its own ideas and some have such extreme ideas that it just slow the whole process make the world better.
