So...I have been deployed for 6 months now. I got a dog about 2 months before i left. Do you think he will remember me when i get back? He is staying with a friend of mine. Any advice on how to get reaquainted with him?

You're going to be so pleased by how much he remembers you! He'll be very excited to see you!
Welcome back and tell the dog how lucky he is to belong to you!

I've had dogs that I rescued and placed know me after 2 yrs so I would think so. Just take him for walks and to the dog park so he has fun, remember not to let him do something you do not want him to do the rest of his life. Do not "let him on the bed just this once" as he will want up forever and not forming a habit is much easier than breaking one.

Dogs remember smells like we remember faces. As long as you smell the same (use the same personal care products, if any) he should remember you.

You could even try to "refresh" his memory by sending some article of clothing (being considerate of your friend by not sending something even HE won't touch! ;-) ) back for him to let the dog have -- obviously not something valuable since Fido may decide to chew the hell out of it.

Best of luck and hope you're back soon!

Yup! =]

Just try to include your dog in your life more..... it will definatly remember you, but it may not realize your the owner if you leave it for extensive periods of times constantly.

Welcome back!

Of course he'll remember you! We don't give animals enough credit for their smarts!
