that is exactly like me !
i was 137 and i wanted the exact same things as you do and didnt want to be seen outside exercising in public. my mom wouldnt let me eat less because im still a teenager and growing. so i started eating a bit smaller amounts of food about 4-5 times a day. things like salad, rice, lean meat and fruits. eating little frequently helps raise your metabolism. but once a week, you should eat something that you want. whether chocolate or candy, giving your body different kinds of calories also helps metabolism to burn everything faster. and also it is important to drink lots and lots of water so that all the bad things in your body gets removed and later the fat. try green tea, it is proven to burn calories. at home i didnt go on the computer as much because since you arent moving any part of your body, thats one of the ways to get fat. the time i watch tv, i exercise with the hullahoop. i went on the treadmill 15 mins everyday and just generally moved my body alot during the day. also, it is proven that sleeping late and waking up late is another way to let your body get fat. so sometimes, i woke up extra early and jogged around the block for about 20 minutes. it really gives you a fresh start of the day : )
for the junk food, you just really have to train yourself. just think about gaining back all the weight you lost and youre back to where you started. it worked for me ;)
join some sports teams and clubs to keep you busy so you wont be tempted to eat as much. you can even try things like dance groups if you like dancing, or yoga classes.
and you can always look up on the internet for some exercises that help tone your body. try things like squats and lunges, and stretching every while and then helps alot.
anywho i lost 20 lbs in four months like that.

i hope it helped, dont give up and good luck !!

: )

Try an online food diary, it'll keep track of everything you eat, making sure you get enough vitamins and all that good stuff, and will make you not want to eat everything just 'cause (trust me, I do that. I get bored and I eat) Also, try drinking a lot more water, a lot of times we confuse thirst for hunger so you may just be thirsty.
As for exercise, try some moves that'll help tone you rather than running, etc. Do some crunches, squats, push ups, whatever. Glamour magazine is doing a whole big thing about tonight muscles for the summer, they have exercises in the mag and I think on their website. The stronger your muscles get, the more fat you burn when you're just walking around, swimming, having fun, etc. If you really want to get active, maybe take a dance class or swim or something that is more of a hobby rather than an exercise.
Whatever you do, don't go overboard. You're still really young and your body is still growing so make sure you get the right amount of nutrients your body needs every day. Good luck hun!

hi sweetheart, i don't think at 13 you should be worrying about your weight. you sound as though you are in absolutely great shape and as we all know muscle weighs more than fat, so don't be worrying about the numbers on the scale.
at 13 you are too young to be starting dieting, your body will change quite a bit without your forcing the issue.
you will no doubt get people here telling you to lose weight - ignore them. you will get snarky answers from people here - ignore them. you are great the way you are! and nature will make you even better!
run if you like, here where we live we see folks out jogging, walking, running all the time. we all admire them and think that maybe we should be doing the same thing.
as for eating - you have to - you sure don't want to end up with an eating disorder. eat sensibly, eat decent meals and make your snacks fruit and veggies. there is nothing wrong with an order of fries once in a while when you are out with your friends, just not every day!
take care, enjoy the summer and don't worry about trying to be skinny! there is nothing appealing in that to anyone!

plse remember, everyone here on Q&A may not be what they appear to be - use caution when striking up friendships with anyone. never give out your personal info, never tell them where you actually are located, and never, never, go meet anyone from the internet! too many whacko's out there!

Being a girl myself I know there is no use telling you that you dont need to lose weight but the truth is sweetie you are not overweight. If you would like a slimmer and more fit look try doing some ab, thigh, and calf work. Remember muscle weighs more than fat so even though you will weigh more you will look more fit. Its not how much you weigh but how you carry it. Also eating the right food is important too. Its not so much that you need to watch how much you eat but more what you eat. You might want to consult your family doctor on what foods you should be eating. Make sure to not under feed yourself. That is the worst thing you can do when trying to lose weight. If your body doesnt get the right amount of fats it needs it will start to store what fat you do eat to live off of.

Go running if you want to who cares what people think! I drive around and see 13 year olds running all the time never once have I thought it was weird.(Most the time it just crosses my mind that I should be getting more exercise.) If your classmates do than their weird and they have a problem not you.

As for exercises you can do in your room sit-ups, squats, jump rope that sort of thing would work. Or join a gym. There is nothing wrong with a 13 year old in a gym either. SELF CONFIDENCE!

I'm 13, I'm a girl, and I run 3 or 4 times a week! and I look terrible after I do (sweaty, messy hair, you get the picture). Maybe its the community I live in. Where I live, there are a lot of runners. Here people look up to runners. Running is a good way to excercise.
Try gymnastics. The leotard can really show off muscles, and you will work your legs like crazy! Strong legs are a must in gymnastics as well as strongs abs. And I think its sorta fun! and it really good for impressing people!
God bless

You should run anyway. It is a great habit to get into for health reasons for your whole life. At least walk with your friends, get them all in on it. Otherwise I would say do something fun. I hate to exercise for the sake of exercising, it is sooo boring. I just got "Dance, Dance Revolution Universe" for the X-BOX360. It is so fun! Me and the kids fight over it. I can't wait until they go back to school so I have it to myself.
If you really want something for the living room try getting those weights that wrap around your legs and doing leg lifts. Sit ups are always the best for your abs.
At 130 though you probably don't need to lose alot of weight, so don't over do it. Too skinny is NOT attractive. It's scary!

OK, im 113, 5'5" and 144 pounds. all my friends are skinnier then me and they would say the same thing if i went out in public to exercise too. i also have that temptation to eat when im not hungry. Go swimming! nobody will realize it is for losing weight instead of having fun. Dance around! play your favorite music in your room and just dance. you can also jog in place, do lunges and squats(they're really good for ur thighs), and if they have them, go to your local library and rent a workout dvd. it is good to go outside so do you have a store near you that your mom buys stuff at? then if your mom needs something ask if you can WALK there for her. its an exuse to tell your friends so they dont realize what your doing.

hey girl!!!
im the same. you can exercise in your house too. Run up and down stairs. you can also cut out 500 calories from your diet every day. if you eat 1200 calories and your body needs that much to live that you wont gain or lose anything.if you exercise on top of that than you will lose. if you eat more that that you will gain.
good luck
