if a person babysitts (without a license) a 3-4 month year old baby and the child is injured severly, what sentence can this person face? I have heard stories like this on the news, but they never tell you the sentence and what actually happens.

in the state that I live in, babysitters have to be state licensed. And the news said it is negligence. It was a individual person and the kid was like under 3 months I think.
The baby is now paralyzed and the brain was damaged. He almost died from injuries because the baby sitter lied to authories at the hospital. And he( the baby sitter) is an adult.
the state and children's services and the hospital filed a case against the person (from what the media says)

It can range from felonious assault to interferring in a police investigation, depending on the circumstances. If the baby sitter goes on trial, the charges will be noted in the newspaper article about that trial, but it can take up to 3 years for that to take place.

The charges can vary widely depending on the case (would have helped if you provided a link). The highest charge could be up to aggravated assault in Illinois.

Hope this helps.
