When you see a parent spank or yell at a kid in public?

Only if they are over reacting and the kid doesn't deserve it. Don't misunderstand. I don't believe parents should beat their kids, but I still believe that some kids need to be spanked when they misbehave.

yes but I'm also guilty. i yell at him but i don't hit, ever. Sometimes it's because i have said the same thing the umpteenth time and the boy knows there the buttons are and love to push. I try not to get to upset with him because he is also a carbon copy of me. So i understand why it is so much fun to push those buttons. But would never spank him he's to rotten to touch :) . I get upset when i here other kids getting yelled at but i have to remember that you have no idea how many times the parent has repeated themselves or warned the child before they yell. Hitting is never an option and that is deeply concerning.

Depends if they are yelling at the child or spanking the child (not in excess) for running in the street or correcting them for unacceptable behavior I smile and thank God its not mine acting up that day. If it is a parent that is just having a bad day and takes it out on a child and excessivly is talking down to the child rather than correcting or spanking excessively. It does upset me and if its out of control I would get involved to protect the child.

nope. if a child is misbehaving, it needs to be corrected now and not later. if the parent waits til they get home, the child does not associate the discipline with the action (when they are small), and often if parents do not react immediately, the child's behavior will become worse anyway, because they have not gotten the reaction they wanted.

Parents who discipline their children at the time they misbehave are sending a message that they will not tolerate that kind of activity, no matter when or where they are. Its a good lesson for kids!

And if they are only ever disciplined in private, what are they going to do when they are grown and a boss dresses them down in front of co-workers?

when they yell at their kid, yes I do. I've never seen anyone spank their kid in public. I don't mind if they yell at their kid in their house, and as long as they don't actually hurt the kid, I don't mind if they give them a spanking from time to time, as long as its in the house.

I have a hard time dealing with it. Children are our gifts and should be treated as such. These parents have issues and need to learn how to deal with them. There are ways to handle a problem in public that don't make an *** out of the parents, who look like they lost control of the situation.

oh yes, I once turned a couple into DSS when I was a clerk in the store. I heard the Grandma talk to the baby in a terrible way. The whole family looked so sleezy. I waited till I had something actually to report. I always felt the Grandpa was the father of the kid. It really made me sick...... Anyway, I got there name, etc. Can't tell you how..... and called . They only told me to keep my eyes and ears open. Slowly they stopped shopping there when we got a fancy remodel. Every kid is YOUR kid. protect them.

Yes i don't like it...there must be a more calmer way to control the child and the reason parents behave in such a way is because they themselves have lost control, and take it out on the child, so how on earth do they expect the child to behave any better when they witness their parent loosing control.
