Which of the following is God?
1) the Father
2) the Son
3) the Holy Ghost

If more than one of the above may be called God, how do you reconcile this with the fact that the Bible says there is only one God?

[Note: please answer only if your response is in harmony with official Jehovah Witness teachings.]

The Father is the only true God. John 17:3

Jesus is called a god, Isa 9, John 1
Moses is called God. Ex 7:1
the judges of Israel are called gods Ps 82:6, John 10
the angel of Jehovah is called God. Judges 13

These are not false gods, they are not the only true God.

They are powerful spokesmen for Jehovah.

They can become false gods if you worship them.

Holy spirit is called God's spirit or spirit of God, God's finger.

All these show ownership. Holy spirit is part of God just as his finger is part of God

An unbroken chain of Arian heresy, is your argument -- no longer the timeline. They can declare "hidden" reputation with no trouble sufficient. Good good fortune together with your debate. BTW Catholicism has bigger documentation in their possess timeline of popes. And Ron R, your claims of JW validity by way of Calvin is shameful. His help of the catholic (common) church was once no longer by any means a help of Jehovah's Witnesses. Odd that you simply try to meet the necessities of a meant 'heretic.' ...extra arguments for then you definately, Candi.

simple.

John 1:1 "the word was with God" [Almighty]

Other spirit beings such as Jesus and Satan are called gods. Angels are also called God-like.

>the Bible says there is only one God?

The bible says there are MANY Gods but as you pointed out, there is ONLY one God that may be worshipped, that is Jesus father the Almighty.

(1 Corinthians 8:5,6) Even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father

Ex 34:14 - For thou shalt worship no other God; for Jehovah --Jealous is his name -- is a jealous God;

The Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe or teach some of the very basic tenets of Christian doctrine. They deny:

1. The Trinity.

2. The Omnipresence of God.

3. The Deity of Christ.

4. The dual nature of Christ.

5. The bodily resurrection of Christ.

6. The visible return of Christ.

7. The person of God the Holy Spirit.

8. The Promise of Heaven to all believers.

9. The necessity of the New Birth for all believers.

10. The Lord's Supper for all believers. (only for the 144,0000).

11. The Eternal Security of the believer.

12. The conscious Eternal Punishment of the lost.

If you only want answers that are "in line" or "in harmony" with JW teachings, what's the purpose of this question? Do you only wish to know what they teach or are you searching for truth based on scripture?

John 1:1 "the word was with God, the word was God."
This scripture, even as taught by JW's, state it is talking about Jesus. So you reconcilitory comment is flawed.

Of course, the NWT of the Holy Scriptures, the translations written by the WBTS, re-translated John 1:1 to fit their doctrine to "the word was a god".

We believe that the bible teaches that Jehovah is the most high Almighty God and Father to Jesus who is his only begotten son. The Holy Spirit is God's active force that he causes to emanate from himself to help his servants and to accomplish his will.

Ps 83:18 "That nations may know that you whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the most high over all the earth."

Matt 3: 17 "Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: 'This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.' "

Luke 1:41 "Well, as Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the infant in her womb leaped; and Elizabeth was filled with holy spirit."

Acts 10: 38 "namely, Jesus who was from Nazareth, how God anointed him with holy spirit and power, and he went through the land doing good and healing all those oppressed by the Devil, because God was with him."

Jehovah's Witnesses believe the bible to teach that the term "God" (with a capital "G") applies only to "the Father".

Interestingly, the bible itself refers to the Almighty by his personal name ("הוהי" or "YHWH" or "Yahweh" or "Jehovah") nearly SEVEN THOUSAND TIMES; that's more times than "God", "Father", and "Lord" COMBINED!
