in cold water is different tot under a tap - under a tap is better coz it would rinse off the sugar and rinse off the heat.

some of the over the counter anaesthetics may help - if you have blisters you should take it to a hospital where they are setup to deal with burns.

ok and now for some general info about caring for your burn

cold water is the best first aid when you burn yourself - 20 minutes under the tap is ideal. NEVER ice or vinegar or milk or butter or mustard or toothpaste or sunscreen or semen or vaseline or vanilla extract - not until it is fully healed!

i would advise that you cover the burnt area with sterile paraffin wax or aqueous cream bp. (check the links below and see if you can find a local equivalent)

cover the burnt area in paraffin wax after cleaning and removing any burst blisters - these are just sites of infection and will take longer to heal. wash and reapply every 4-6 hours - cover with cling wrap if you wish to cover with clothes - this will stop your clothes getting covered with paraffin and maintains the burn.

paraffin creates a seal stopping water leaving the body and reduces pain as it protects sensitised nerves. the paraffin imitates the natural oils secreted by the skin. skin cells are better able to multiply and regenerate with this treatment. pain is also helped. make sure you buy plenty of this paraffin - as the burn heals switch to aqueous cream bp.(aqueous cream has a bunch of paraffin in it plus some moisturisers - look out for stuff that also contains sorbolene or glycerine as these help also). following this regime definitely will help your sunburn heal faster and peel less. aloe is good coz it remoisturises but that moisture can be quickly lost as the skin can't contain fluids- this is a function of healthy skin.

so put aloe on the paraffin on over the top as long as there is no broken skin this works great. if there is broken skin leave out the aloe - just paraffin

Hey, I'm a lifeguard.. cold packs/cold water if its recent is literally the best treatment.. keep that part of the body out of the sun in the summer too :) I just got really sunburned today, and that definately won't help..

This is basic first aid:
The general and basic first aid treatment for most burns is to douse the affected area with cool water for at least 10 minutes in order to relieve the casualty’s pain and reduce swellings which could accompany a burn (Note that cold burns should not be doused with water). The burn should then be covered with a loose sterile and non-fluffy dressing to prevent infection. The dressing must not exert pressure on the wound, due to the burn being likely to swell and increase in size.

Very minor burns can be treated at home. First-degree burns usually don't require dressings. Moisturizing, or calamine lotions can ease some of the discomfort. Simple painkillers, such as ibuprofen, may also help. First-degree burns usually settle in a matter of days, perhaps with a little skin peeling.

If its really bad, a drug called Lidocaine can be administered to the spot of injury and will generally negate most pain.

This is first aid for minor burns, don't mess around if it is serious, get help from a doctor if that is the case,
If you have vitamin E capsules, burst open a capsul with a pin, squish and coat the burn with the oil from the E capsul, the pain should go away in a few minutes. This treatment also works for lightly scalded tongues when you burn it from trying to drink something that's a little too hot for you.

Running cool water is best...NO ice, NO moisturizers b/c they trap in heat, Do not pop any blister that may form, keep a sterile dressing over the burn such as a band-aid or gauze if the area is too big, take an over the counter anti-inflammtory such as advil or aleve as directed on the bottle

If you have an aloe vera plant cut it open and put the juice on it, if not vinegar is good for a sun burn, but I don't know about another burn.

if you have a spray that is used to a pain reliever, spray it on the affected area. i know this works because i just burned my finger monday night with boiling carmel! ouch did it hurt! no bandaids as that will keep in heat and you don't want that as it will hurt more!
