That's because females live longer. We must be spoiling our girls.

Had been thinking about getting a cat for some time. Had cats when I was a kid. Husband was off doing his two weeks active duty in reserves. Finally made up my mind and headed to the shelter. Still feeling a little nervous, but in the door I went.

They led me by the nose to the cat department. There she was just waiting for me with her harm stretched out to me through the bars. Now tell me, who could resist that. Looked at the keeper and said my usual "sold American".

Off we went for our car ride home, which seemed like hours. We finally made it. Openned the box and let her go, right behind the sofa. Now it was her turn to explore. Didn't bother her, just let her explore. They told me at the shelter that she was three years old....... this beauty. long hair, calico. It's no wonder our eye's met when I walked into the sheters cat room.

Husband did his two weeks and when he walked into the kitchen noticed right away the two bowls sitting on the floor. His usual question ... now what did you do?

For someone who told me he never liked cats .... after he saw her, he was in love with another woman.

So that's how our lives started with our beautiful calico 25 years ago. Oh yes she's still kicking and still has a big mouth at 5:00 AM in the morning demanding her breakfast. You don't need an alarm clock in this house..

She now lays in the sun watching the birds ducks, chippers, deer and from time to time a black bear. Can't say she isn't busy being an indoor, still spoiled , calico cat.

I really had brain power when I finally came up with a name for her KITTY! How original can you get.

That's our Kitty, heading for the number 26.

Thanks for letting me tell my story.

My cat was an '80s cat! 1988, but she died last year :-(

There are plenty of cats around from the 80's, I meet them almost every day! (and I'd just like to add, most of them are allowed outdoors ;-) )

The oldest cat I met was 25. I've also met a 23 year old and a couple of 21 year olds.

Mine are all under 10 now but my Tuffy, who died in Jul of 05 was 19 years and 3 months. He was half Manx, which are known for their longevity. Other cats I've had died around 12/13.

I found mine as a stray, and he was already a year old. then we owned him for 19 years. he passed away recently, last month. But i think that would make him 20. i miss him ever so much.
