It's very hard to say here, Martin makes a nice one but so does Taylor, Ovation, and many others that I could name. I play classical guitar but I was in the Guitar Center to buy a new classical and thought I'd look at the acoustics, I've never owned one, well to my surprise I found a Yamaha, they had two and I loved them both, one was an electric cut away, and the other was a plain acoustic, the price of the electric was $250.00 and I was quite surprised at the sweet sound that it made. I wanted an inexpensive one because I wanted to spend my money on the classical. This is what I tell everyone who asks my advice, go to the Guitar Center and tell the clerk what style you want and sit and play all the ones that are in your price range, sometimes price doesn't matter, I've found inexpensive ones that I liked better then the more expensive ones. One thing you can not tell someone is what guitar is for them, you have to feel the action, see if feels good in your hand, and another important thing is that it has to have that sound that YOUR looking for, one guitar may have a great sound to someone else but not to you. So sit and play with them and make the desicion according to what feels and sounds good to you. By the way the Guitar Center is very good with returns, I've taken back guitars after three weeks, with no problem, the'll give you back your money or another guitar. Oh and they also have a lot of little rooms where you can sit and play to get the feel and sound of the guitar.

I think the next guitar I'm going to get is a custom made Five string. (tunes in fifths) I set up a six string to try it out and I like the open sound. I might get an old friend to build it for me. If I had to buy one off the rack, it would be the next one I wrap my hands around and can't let go of. I don't care so much about brand names. Every guitar has a personality and I have to find the one that complements mine.

A Froggy Bottom. hand made with nice scrimshaw appointments. Made by a luthier (I believe his name is Mike Millard) Although they can be found used for $2500 - 4000,
and are usually built to order, some of these guitars go for $20,000 and up.

Burrell. They're very, very nice. They cut away and contoured to your body so they're amazingly comfortable. Of course, they also run $3500, but they're very comfortable nonetheless.
Check them out: www.burrellguitars.com
If I were going for one that's from a better known company, I'd probably go with Martin. They tend to have amazing sound.

I'd settle for the HD-35 Martin, which I now have, or better yet, the D-45 Martin, which goes beyond the $3,500 price tag.

I still favor the Martin. They have gone through many changes, but they are still worthy of their legend.
