I have a male and female and the female has turned her former water bowl into a nest. She sits in it comfortably, but won't use the nesting box OR nest I brought for them. They've actually shredded up the nest and are having fun dropping it all over the bottom of the cage.

Anyways, so how do I make things suitble for her?! She looks "puffy" and I don't know what to do with her. Should I move their cage to a room that doesn't have air conditioning? My house is pretty cool and I know they're tropical birds.

I need all the info I can get! Thanks!

That's exactly what my lovebird did. About all you can do now is buy another water bowl. Females sometimes puff up when they're happy. If she shows any other symptoms of being sick, then take her to the vet, but it doesn't sound like you should be worried. If you think they're cold, try covering one side of the cage so that they can get out of the cold air or breeze that the a/c creates. Good luck and I hope you get plenty of babies!

I think you have a broblem...but just let them be...they will be fine...It sure sounds to me like she is comfortable....You don't really want to move them...it might make the female stop nesting...just leave it..YOU can also cover the cage with a towel or blanket...and get a new water bowl....good luck.

Go to your local pet shop, they have nesting boxes there, if not? You can make one 5x5 out of louon! a very thin paneling type wood, It comes in sheets of 4feet x 8ft!
