If someone who does not have Hep C uses a syringe and then, a week or so later, uses it again (on themself) without cleaning or sterilizing it properly, can they contract it.?

thank you both for your concern but i assure you that 'I' am NOT the person in question here. I want to know if 'Hep C' and only 'Hep C' can form in non-infected blood by itself.

if the person using the syringe doesn't have hcv and uses his own syringe, then no. however, if someone got a hold of that syringe and used it and was infected with hcv, then yes, the person who originally used it can get hcv. hcv can reconstitute when blood is reintroduced. (no longer than 18 days).

my question is, how does this person know if he isn't infected? many folks aren't aware of the disease. often overlooked or misdiagnosed because their liver enzymes were within normal limits of a standard blood lab. get tested for antibodies!

Hep C infection is a blood to blood thing. If you do not have HCV and you are the only one using the needle, it's not just going to materialize on the needle. That being said, "just say no!"

I have not examined all the ways, in which Hepatitis C can
be contracted, but it is a Highly Contagious Disease, and
in my opinion, it can be contracted...many ways.
I know that it doesn't take a very long gestation period,
before a person, can be deathly ill, and I am certain of this.
One woman, who had been a survivor of cancer, before
going to prison, contracted Hepatitis C, and within months,
she was on her death bed, and I was instrumental, in getting
her out of prison, so she could spend her last 3 weeks of
life with her 10 yr. old daughter, who lives in the community
where I live.
All of us got to realize, how important LIFE really is, and
how valuable, it is TO KEEP THIS ASSET, by avoiding
situations...where we are suseptible, to contracting any
Contagious Disease !!!

Hep C is the least of your worries. If your diabetic, get fresh needles for each use. If your using drugs, STOP IT. I can't begin to tell you what kind of infections your setting yourself up for with a used/dirty needle.

Where would it come from? What I'm curious about is-why would you reuse a syringe, even one that only you have used?
